Ewing ’s sarcoma of kidney extending into IVC and RA: resection using modified cannulation strategy for CPB
AbstractEwing ’s sarcoma of the kidney is a rare tumor. Although renal carcinomas are known to involve the inferior cava, extension of the tumor up to the right atrium is not common. In the majority of cases when the tumor extends into the infrahepatic part of the inferior vena cava, it can be removed from the abdominal approach. Few patients require the use of cardiopulmonary bypass for removal of the tumor in the inferior vena cava and right atrium. The management of patients requiring resection of kidney tumors and right atrial mass is more complicated and requires a team approach consisting of oncosu rgeons, cardiac ...

Comparative Analysis of Stereotactic Radiation Therapy and Conventional Radiation Therapy in Cancer Pain Control: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: In summary, stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT) has improved in achieving complete pain relief while exhibiting a decreased probability of delivering stationary pain compared to conventional radiation therapy (CRT). Nevertheless, it is crucial in future research to address a noteworthy limitation, specifically, the risk of vertebral compression fracture.PMID:38664177 | DOI:10.1016/j.clon.2024.04.004 (Source: Cancer Control)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1668: Germline Genetic Mutations in Adult Patients with Sarcoma: Insight into the Middle East Genetic Landscape
dah Abdel-Razeq Data on germline mutations in soft tissue and bone sarcomas are scarce. We sought to identify the prevalence of germline mutations in adult sarcoma patients treated at a tertiary cancer center. Newly diagnosed patients were offered germline genetic testing via an 84-gene panel. The prevalence of pathogenic germline variants (PGVs) and their association with disease-, and patient- related factors are reported. A total of 87 patients were enrolled, the median age was 48 (19–78) years, and 47 (54%) were females. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (n = 12, 13.8%), liposarcoma (n = 10, 11.5%), ...

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1628: Peripheral Soluble Immune Checkpoint-Related Proteins Were Associated with Survival and Treatment Efficacy of Osteosarcoma Patients, a Cohort Study
Conclusion: Four soluble ICK-related proteins were associated with the survival of OS patients. Soluble ICK-related proteins could be promising biomarkers for the outcomes and immunotherapy of OS patients, though more research is warranted. (Source: Cancers)

Development of a novel six DNA damage response-related prognostic signature in osteosarcoma
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2024 Mar 31;70(3):110-115. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2024.70.3.16.ABSTRACTDNA damage response (DDR) plays a vital role in the development of cancer. Nevertheless, in osteosarcoma, the potential of DDR-related genes (DDRGs) remains unclear. Thus, the current research is intended to investigate the mechanisms of DDRGs in the development of osteosarcoma and to explore potential DDR-related biomarkers in forecasting the prognosis of osteosarcoma patients. The osteosarcoma genomic data from TCGA, GEO and cBioPortal databases were utilized for screening and identification of differentially expressed DDRGs...

Disparities in incidence and survival for patients with Ewing sarcoma in Florida
ConclusionsFlorida Hispanic males have a higher-than-expected incidence of osseous ES compared to the US. Hispanics of both sexes show remarkably worse survival for nonmetastatic disease compared to NHW. This disparity is likely multifactorial and requires further in-depth studies.
