What are my chances/list of schools to apply to? 3.68 GPA, 518 MCAT
Hi All, I'm struggling to narrow down the list of schools to apply to given the discrepancy between my mcat and gpa. I'd love some input on what tier level schools to apply to/list of schools to apply to given my stats and background. Demographic/Personal Background: female, middle eastern, daughter of refugees, CA resident. I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma stage 1 and have been in remission since 2011. Played a huge role in sparking my interest in pursuing medicine/fell in love... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

In what specialties is it important to do in-field research for matching?
I'm about to matriculate into a program where students do a year of dedicated research and have to begin considering mentors now. I know some fields appreciate research regardless of the study subject, while some prefer the research is related to the speciality. For example, nephro might like that I did a study on bone cancer, while derm wouldn't care as much because it isn't derm related. I guess the question is, what are the other "derm" fields? Rad onc? Ortho? Uro? Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

28.2 million dollar lawsuit for not ordering an mri
$28.2 Million Jury Verdict in Late Diagnosis of Bone Cancer Case So I guess that whole thing about "not ordering too many MRIs for plain back pain" by our efficiency heros like Rodger Chou really paid off for this doctor. I mean didn't the jury read the studies that getting an MRI for back pain too quickly is bad? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Outdated UW Question
On reviewing questions, I came across QID 2320 which had a box before the question which states that it contains "outdated or inaccurate information" and to ignore the question. I can't figure out what is wrong with the question though. It is osteosarcoma in a teenager who has some bone pain and they show a picture of an X-ray where they show an osteolytic lesion and Codman's triangle. It states that osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor in children. All that sounds right to me? (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)
