Adsorption and leaching of β-blockers in fluvo-aquic and black soil: Behavior characteristic and enantiomer selectivity
In this study, the adsorption and leaching behaviors of β-blockers in fluvo-aquic soil and black soil were investigated. The adsorption of β-blockers was fit well by the Freundlich adsorption isotherm (R2 > 0.913) and the adsorption affinity of β-blockers decreased in the following order: propranolol (logarithm of Freundlich adsorption coefficient log Kf = 1.46-2.55) > atenolol (log Kf = 0.53-1.04) > sotalol (log Kf = 0.32-1.01). An increase in ionic strength and dissolved organic matter (DOM) inhibited their soil adsorption. Ionic change is the main driving force for adsorption. Besides, hydrophobic partitioni...

Dissecting the role of cell signaling versus CD8 < sup > + < /sup > T cell modulation in propranolol antitumor activity
J Mol Med (Berl). 2022 Jul 27. doi: 10.1007/s00109-022-02238-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPreclinical and early clinical mechanistic studies of antitumor activity from the beta-adrenergic receptor (β-AR) blocker propranolol have revealed both cell signaling and immune function pathway effects. Intertumoral studies were performed using propranolol, a β1-AR selective agent (atenolol), and a β2-AR selective agent (ICI 118,551) in a preclinical in vivo model, as a step to dissect the contribution of cell signaling and CD8+ immunological effects on anticancer activity. We found that repression of β2-AR but not β1-AR si...

Co-prescription of metoprolol and CYP2D6-inhibiting antidepressants before and after implementation of an optimized drug interaction database in Norway
ConclusionThe present study suggests that implementation of a drug interaction database providing recommendations on non-interacting drug alternatives contributes to reduced co-prescribing of drug combinations associated with potentially serious adverse effects. An ultra-sensitive laccase/polyaziridine-bismuth selenide nanoplates modified GCE for detection of atenolol in pharmaceuticals and urine samples
Bioelectrochemistry. 2022 Jul 16;147:108212. doi: 10.1016/j.bioelechem.2022.108212. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe analysis of β-blockers in pharmaceutical, biological and environmental samples has gained much interest due to their wide applications. The aim of this study was to develop an enzyme-based biosensor using hexagonal-shaped low-dimensional Bi2Se3 NPs decorated with laccase through polyaziridine (PAZ) modified glassy carbon electrode (Lac/PAZ-Bi2Se3 NPs/GCE). Surface properties were examined using SEM, TEM, EDX, XRD, XPS, FTIR, UV-Visible, and zeta potential. Electrochemical studies were performed with cyclic...
