A naturalistic study on the effects of antidepressants (e. g. SSRI) and acetyl salicylic acid (ASA) on the self-rated perception of the psychotherapeutic process of inpatient psychosomatic treatment and its results: Could ASA be beneficial?
Discussion: Regarding process perception and therapy outcome, amitriptyline might have unfavorable effects at dose reductions, whereas COX-inhibition could be beneficial at higher dosages. Adverse drug events associated with nortriptyline compared with paroxetine and alternative medications in an older adult population: a retrospective cohort study in Southern California
Conclusions Compared with therapeutic alternatives, nortriptyline was found to represent a lower risk for falls, fractures and syncope, versus comparator medications, except for a few instances that had equivalent risk. Amitriptyline for the management of IBS in primary care
Family practitioners commonly manage irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with the use of dietary modifications, antispasmodics, laxatives, or anti-diarrheal drugs. If these first-line therapies fail to improve symptoms, neuromodulators such as amitriptyline are recommended as a second-line treatment.
