Herpes Simplex Virus Hepatitis in Patients Requiring Intensive Care Unit Admission: A Retrospective, Multicenter, Observational Study
Open Forum Infect Dis. 2023 Oct 3;10(11):ofad484. doi: 10.1093/ofid/ofad484. eCollection 2023 Nov.ABSTRACTThe clinical features and short-term prognosis of patients admitted to the intensive care unit for herpes hepatitis are lacking. Of 33 patients admitted between 2006 and 2022, 22 were immunocompromised, 4 were pregnant women, and 23 died. Sixteen patients developed a hemophagocytic syndrome. Acyclovir was initiated a median (interquartile range) of 1 (0-3) day after admission.PMID:37942463 | PMC:PMC10629341 | DOI:10.1093/ofid/ofad484 (Source: Herpes)

Antimicrobial and antiviral evaluation of compounds from < em > Holoptelea integrifolia < /em > : < em > in silico < /em > supported < em > in vitro < /em > study
In this study, two biologically active metabolites, 5(6) dihydrostigmast 22en 3-O-β-glucoside (DHS) and 1-O-eicosanoyl glycerol-2'-O-β-galactouronic (EGG), were isolated for the first time from the n-butanol fraction of H. integrifolia using a chromatographic technique and identified by NMR, and HRESI-MS. The antiviral and multidrug-resistant activities of these metabolites were evaluated as well as the n-butanol fraction. The n-butanol fraction of H. integrifolia exhibited weak antiviral effects, but DHS and EGG demonstrated significant antiviral activity against herpes simplex type-1 (HSV-1) and Coxsackie (CoxB4) virus...

Molecular docking analysis of HSV-1 proteins models with synthetic and plant derived compounds
Bioinformation. 2023 Sep 30;19(9):981-986. doi: 10.6026/97320630019981. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThe atomic resolution model of US9, UL20, and gH protein of HSV is known. Hence, the ligand protein interaction of the US9, UL20, and gH protein models were carried out with synthetic drugs like acyclovir, bexarotene, vinorelbine, foscarnet, famciclovir, cidofovir and two plant derived natural drug acacetin and anthraquinone. Based on structure and docking study, it is predicted that protein US20 and gH binds with particular anti-HSV drug i.e. acyclovir, cidofovir, acacetin and famciclovir, acacetin respectively, while interact...
