Institutional Action Warning -- False accusation
Hi all, Recently, my online music class was involved in a cheating scandal. Essentially, a group was created by my friend who created it with good intentions, but it ultimately ended up turning into a hub where students sent test answers. My friend and I were completely unaware of this, but were caught in the middle of it, unfortunately. We were joking around and I basically asked if anyone would write my papers for the course, and he proceeded to ask for $20. It was... Phi Beta Kappa
Hey guys, So apparently Phi Beta Kappa is the nations oldest and most "prestigious" honors society. Word of warning, I know nothing about "greek life". But this sounds interesting, It's an invite only society and i received an invitation, so did 5 other students in my major. Has anyone heard of this society? It completely caught me off guard and i don't know why i was selected to join it. What is selection based on? How will this help me advance my professional career? Thanks guy! ACGME Status for Former DO programs
Hi guys, Please answer my questions about the ACGME status! A couple of my favourite programs that I have interviewed have received initial accreditation status. But they have been at those stages for the past 3 years. Is it something I should be worried about? Also, one of the programs has initial accreditation with warning. What does it mean and is it in danger of losing accreditation? I really really like this program but if it is risky, I will reluctantly rank other programs... Appropriate Disciplinary Action?
1st day of conversion from chain A to Chain B. I was written for keeping control safe unlocked for 1 hour and then 6 minutes. Someone reported me and Rx manager gave me a final warning. This was a new type of safe/ time delayed. Seems excessive to me. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Bullied...
I do not know if this post serves as a warning or a question, venting or maybe a cry for help...perhaps all the above. The "pre-med" track as a non-trad student can be rough. In many cases it can break people down to a point where they are so defeated, they become lost. At the beginning of my pre-med track, I could not be more sure of my course: MD all the way; I couldn't see myself doing anything else. I didn't see myself working in any other path beside that of a physician. Im sure... Bullied... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Some advice at the Holidays for the new grads
Just a warning to those soon to be new grads out there looking for a job for next year. Do yourself a solid and, if at all possible, avoid working for a CMG. This has been expounded upon at length on this forum, and you should read those threads too (especially the ones that paint CMGs in a positive light, just for a balanced perspective; please also read the post that gives an analysis on the financial aspects of these facility contracts; I think by ninerniner). I know they’re promising... Some advice at the Holidays for the new grads (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can some one tell me how this case makes sense?
Portsmouth doctor reprimanded for treatment of chronic pain patient CONCORD — A Portsmouth doctor has been reprimanded and fined by the New Hampshire Board of Medicine after he cut back a chronic pain patient’s prescription opioid painkillers — and www.unionleader.com I don’t understand this. Maybe the taper was too quick but I felt like he took appropriate measures even warning local authorities and primary care provider. I really don’t know what he was supposed to do? What am I missing? I actually have one patient just like this that ...

(M2) Consistently bad SOAP note grades from faculty, but clinicians love my notes
So I 100% always get about 15-20% below class average on all our graded SOAP notes in our clinical-type classes. We upload them and some unknown faculty member grades them. They write feedback on each note when they give it back. I always get marked off for weird, specific things, like not doing genitourinary exams or full neuro exams for patients with URIs. Or not asking exactly how many times per day a patient coughs. Or not warning an adult patient about a potential pediatric side... Voluntary residency contraction and the development of IMRT saved the field in the early 2000s: an analysis of the past 30 years
As an upfront warning: this might be the longest post in the history of Student Doctor Network (probably not true - but this is a dissertation). Something I’ve heard a lot in both real life and online is the sentiment that the “sky has always been falling in Radiation Oncology”. Indeed, there have been concerns over the job market for as long as I can remember. When I was first looking at the field in the late 2000s, it was widely known and freely shared with me that there were tremendous... Long QT, does anyone care?
Took care of a patient recently with long QT and history of postop nausea. She specifically told me not to give her Zofran because of her asymptomatic history just seen on ekg. Admittedly this is not something I’ve been generally concerned with in the past although I am familiar with the black box warning on Zofran. But the reality is every drug just about that we use for nausea has been associated with increasing QT interval and you have to give these patients something. Any thoughts? Why do you think current M4s aren ’t heeding the warnings of Anesthesia being “dead”?
I’ve heard from the PD at my school that significantly more students are applying to anesthesia than in previous years, and that they’re a lot more 250s/AOA caliber students applying as well. It seems like no matter how many rights midlevels get, or how many times people here try to warn students not to go into anesthesia, more and more people are gunning for it. UCLA Away Rotation Housing Warning
I feel like I have to post somewhere on the internet because of how bad an experience I had with an away rotation housing on RotatinRoom.com If you are using RotatingRoom to rent a room out of UCLA, DO NOT rent from Orli Peter (Shutterfly). She unfairly took my security deposit, failed to mention how small the room was and did not tell me that I would be living with her family. Avoid at all costs. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
