Buprenorphine can cause significant dental problems
Buprenorphine dissolved in the mouth can cause dental problems Benefits for use outweigh these risks and oral care can help www.fda.gov I haven't seen an industry warning about this. I have, however, seen 2 patients that after being placed on Buprenorphine experienced significant dental problems. It may have been coincidence but when I saw the above it wasn't surprising. Institutional Action
Hello, During my freshman year of college I received an "alleged" violation of academic integrity. I knew I didn't cheat so I appealed and the Office of Academic Integrity reviewed my case finding me not guilty. The punishment was a warning if you were to be found guilty. I'm seeing a lot of different answers to this question so I'm posting my specific story. I'll try calling my university and looking if there's an IA on my conduct record- but wouldn't it just be that I was... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Worry about medical license denial
I made stupid mistake during residency and made a HIPAA violation. (not on bad intention) Because of it, I got a final written warning from the hospital instead of getting terminated or suspended (i know, very lucky). I have no other disciplinary action before, no other warning or probation. In good standing with the residency otherwise with no gap in training. I am currently In the process of applying for state licensure and getting credentialed at my new hospital after residency. (Of note... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Warning for graduating residents!
I am sure this has been said many times before... But I am finishing my first year out of residency and I wanted to state my experience briefly for those to read and hopefully avoid a bad first experience themselves (even though based on everyone I talk to, this seems like a right of passage in Podiatry). 1) If you see a job ad that has been up for months... take it as a warning sign! Also pay attention to whether its a job thats advertised year after year (high turn over) 2) If an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How rampant is cheating in pharmacy schools?
How bad is it at your school? Personally, I think the schools are too lax about this. We always get e-mails and whatnot warning the whole class about cheating, but I never see any disciplinary action being done about it. I find it really weird how some students I know who got caught cheating just got away with a slap on the wrist and a verbal warning. Yet, when one of my preceptors complained about chronic tardiness, they made a big deal about it saying that I might get an incomplete on... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help needed with a sensitive situation (content warning, minor sexual assault-ish) Feeling vulnerable
Hello wise women and men of the psychiatry board. I’m based in Northern Ireland and I’ve finished my training. I’m temporarily covering a psychiatry of intellectual disability team (I’m appropriately trained and experienced for same). I’m not looking for protocol advice, as I’ve covered these angles (including incident report, discussion with clinical director, etc). It’s possibly relevant to mention that I’m a woman in my thirties. I was running a review clinic in a school a while back... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

4 institutional actions-- please help
I am a current senior applying for 2023 EY. I have four things on file with the conduct office at my institution, and the conduct office has told me that these four things are "not considered reportable offenses" and would only be released with FERPA authorization. The four IAs are all non-academic and detailed below frosh yr: fall 2018- noise complaint in freshman dorms leading to letter of notification spring 2019- formal warning issued after me and two friends were found doing shots... Ethics Violation
hi all! so i recently reported a professor for a research violation at my school (not going to go into more detail for privacy sake). this professor is attached to the medical school, though I am unsure if she is directly involved in admissions (though it is possible). It is likely this professor is going to receive a pretty substantial warning (but she is unlikely to get fired, though she might lose funding / have her studies much more closely reviewed monitored). It is possible that the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Transcription of Dr. Parikh's speech
Thank you. Speaking for the community: I didn’t leave ASTRO; ASTRO left me. There’s a trust issue between big rad onc and little rad onc. Big rad onc is the academic chairmen, the ASTRO leadership, the ABR, the editors of our journals, the people charging five to seven times the rates that the community and freestanding centers charge. Some of you on this panel are big rad onc. We didn’t like it when you ignored Chirag Shah’s warnings in 2013. We really didn’t like your responses to him... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I quit my job more than six months prior to starting med school in 2022?
I've been an full-time ER scribe since April 2019, and took on the position of co-head scribe in August. However, the other co head (also very new to the position) and I inherited a lot of problems from previous leadership that have been quite stressful to deal with, and quite frankly, the job itself is no longer enjoyable. I've had to cut out extracurriculars to help with shift coverage, and dealing with staffing issues and people leaving without warning. I have a few acceptances, and am...
