Guilty About PS Subject
*Please Don't quote, I will definitely be deleting this* Hello everyone, I was writing my PS and wanted your opinions about whether or not a certain topic would be appropriate or not. Just a warning, it is pretty violent. I will not sugar coat it... There was a mass shooting at my campus, and one of my friends along with several of my other peers were killed. I will also not lie and say they were my best friend... We had met that year and been hanging, and I enjoyed their company. I... Guilty About PS Subject (Source: Student Doctor Network)

A little warning about Touro NY
1) Regardless of what the Deans tell you on your interview day, this is in fact a mandatory attendance school 2) 50% of entering students hold a Masters from an SMP program that specifically teaches medical school classes, not the other smp programs. 3) 25% of the class is held back from writing comlex 1/step 1. 4) 20% of the class fails step 2. 5) 10% of the students that enter will never graduate. 300k debt, no degree, ouch. 6) THE SCHOOL IS NOW ON PROBATION. Can I still be a physician? (serious)
The other day I didn't pay my train ticket because I bought it before and no one checked. When I was sitting on the train, all of a sudden I hear "TICKETS" I automatically pretended to be asleep but the cop woke me up. He asked for my ID and he took a picture of it and wrote down my info but he said it was only a warning because I am a minor (17 years old). Now I'm worried because why would he take a picture of my ID if he said it was a warning? My mom just brought up what happened and she's... Can I still be a physician? 27 y/o non-traditional applicant seeking advice (warning: long)
Hey y'all. This is my first time posting here, and I'm really hoping you guys can help me out. I ended up writing a novel's worth of backstory on how I got to this point in my life, but figured I'd save you guys the agony and hide it under a spoiler tag in case you want to read it after looking over everything else (i.e. the important stuff). Spoiler: My Backstory I started out in college as an electrical engineering major even though I didn’t have much interest in it as a career path,... 27 y/o non-traditional applicant seeking advice (warning: long) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Positive aspects about training in pathology
The form is filled with warnings about going into pathology. I was wondering if there is a silver lining or if there are any perks. Pathologist I meet in real life are very optimistic about the future but veterans on this form have a complete opposite outlook. I would like this thread to help us all who are sincerely interested in this great speciality make decisions about our future. Thank you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ACGME SURVEY - Are all program like this?
Hi all, Just curious if your program is similar, basically every year they coach us to fill out the survey the way they want it, and apparently every year we fail on the survey to the point that the administration is worried about another ACGME site visit or warning or probation, or whatever... Do you guys get pressured to lie on the survey? I feel like if I lie, yea the program looks "good", but if I'm truthful, then maybe the administration will actually change the way they behave at... Entitled/lazy colleagues...
This is mostly a vent thread as it is Friday and my wife will not be interested in hearing this over dinner. I have an LCSW colleague who is driving me a bit nuts this week, as she is prone to doing from time to time. WARNING: Rant ahead: Now a bit of background: I see a full load of patients that are usually high acuity, help supervise 4 less experienced colleagues, and take care of some administrative duties as well. I do not directly supervise this LCSW, she belongs to a colleague of... Entitled/lazy colleagues... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT Warning Letter
I took the MCAT last year, and something happened during testing that resulted in me receiving a warning letter from an MCAT security representative. I would prefer not to go into the details of the incident, but the warning letter basically mentioned that no further action will be taken regarding the matter, but that if any violations occur in the future, an investigation will be issued without a warning notice. Now, what I am wondering is... Do medical schools receive this information... MCAT Warning Letter (Source: Student Doctor Network)
