Complications Subsequent to Urinary Tract Stent Placement: An Overview Focusing on the Imaging of Cancer Patients
Medicina (Kaunas). 2024 Feb 19;60(2):338. doi: 10.3390/medicina60020338.ABSTRACTUreteral involvement by a tumor is common, and both partial and complete obstructions can result in symptoms that are distressing and debilitating, especially in cancer patients for whom the resection of the primary tumor is not considered an option. Maintaining ureteric patency in these patients is a challenge. In addition, in cases where a patient has undergone nephroureterectomy due to primary transitional cell cancer, it becomes necessary to decompress the urinary tract to preserve the contralateral kidney from irreversible damage. This is ...

Transition readiness of adolescents with cancer: A cross-sectional study based on self-determination theory
CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study add to the evidence supporting the use of SDT-related constructs to promote transition readiness among adolescents with cancer, highlight the importance of encouraging patient activation, and clarify the ancillary roles of social support and self-efficacy in patient activation development during transitional period.PMID:38387132 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2024.102521 (Source: European Journal of Oncology Nursing)

An in-depth analysis on the effects of body composition in patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy for urothelial cell carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: Based on our retrospective cohort study, NAC did not affect obesity and FMI, but there was a significant decrease in SMI. Sarcopenic obesity was associated with increased severity of NAC adverse events. As such, the presence of this factor may help predict tolerance of NAC.PMID:38381924 | DOI:10.5489/cuaj.8542 (Source: Canadian Urological Association Journal)
