Applications of Strain ‐Specific Probiotics in the Management of Cardiovascular Diseases: A Systemic Review
The consumption of red meat, sugary processed foods, and saturated fat alters the gut microbiota, and the bacterial alteration leads to an increase inEnterobacter species that release endotoxins in the blood. Choline and carnitine are substrates for trimethylamine (TMA) formation, which undergoes hepatic conversion to trimethylamineN-oxide (TMAO). The increase in TMAO level results in decreases in BAS and RCT activity while increasing the production of foam cells and inflammation in vessels by inducing Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR), leading to thrombosis and atherosclerosis. AbstractCardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a leadin...

Unlocking the Dietary Puzzle: How Macronutrient Intake Shapes the Relationship between Visfatin and Atherosclerosis in Type 2 Diabetes
Conclusions: Dietary compliance was limited, as only 31% adhered even to three of eight recommendations. A common dietary pattern characterized by low carbohydrate and fiber but high fat, total fat, saturated fat, and salt intake was identified. This pattern amplifies the statistical association between visfatin and subclinical atherosclerosis.PMID:38541164 | DOI:10.3390/medicina60030438 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Differential association between dairy intake patterns and incident prostate cancer: a potential dairy matrix effect
ConclusionsA differential association of dairy intake patterns with risk of PC, and the poorly differentiated PC, was identified. This association seems to be determined by different dairy matrices and it is mediated by calcium content. Longitudinal studies are needed to confirm these findings and be able to identify other potential mediators in the etiology of PC. (Source: European Journal of Nutrition)

Did child obesity decline after 2016 food regulations in Chile?
Rev Panam Salud Publica. 2024 Mar 8;48:e16. doi: 10.26633/RPSP.2024.16. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTWe estimated trends in the prevalence of obesity and overweight among Chilean primary and secondary students before and after Chile's 2016 regulations on the marketing and availability of foods high in energy, total sugars, sodium, or saturated fat. We used data from Chile's Survey of Nutrition, which measured the body mass index (BMI) of students in government-funded schools. Using BMI thresholds defined by the World Health Organization, we calculated the prevalence of overweight and obesity for each year from 2013 to 2019 amo...

Three approaches to assessing dietary quality in Mexican adolescents from 2006 to 2018 with data from national health and nutrition surveys
CONCLUSIONS: Mexican adolescents have demonstrated poor dietary quality by these three approaches. Therefore, this population has a high-risk profile for diet-associated chronic diseases. Further research and appropriate public policies are needed.PMID:38465375 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980024000648 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)
