Elevated plasma endocan and BOC in heart failure patients decrease after heart transplantation in association with improved hemodynamics
ConclusionOur results suggest that (i) plasma endocan in HF may reflect the state of pulmonary vascular congestion and PH-LHD, whereas (ii) plasma BOC may reflect the cardiac function and the hemodynamic overload  in HF. The exact role of these proteins and their clinical applicability as biomarkers in HF and PH-LHD ought to be investigated in larger cohorts.

Biventricular imaging markers to predict outcomes in non ‐compaction cardiomyopathy: a machine learning study
ConclusionsOur findings show the importance of biventricular assessment to detect the severity of this cardiomyopathy and to plan for early clinical intervention. In addition, this study shows that even patients with normal LV function and negative late gadolinium enhancement had MACE. ML is a promising tool for analysing a large set of parameters to stratify and predict prognosis in LVNC patients.

Prognostic significance of right ventricular hypertrophy and systolic function in Anderson –Fabry disease
ConclusionsRVH and RV systolic function show significant association with clinical events in AFD, but only proteinuria and left ventricular mass index emerged as independent predictors of outcome. Our findings suggest that RV involvement does not influence prognosis in AFD and confirm that renal involvement and left ventricular hypertrophy are the main determinant of major cardiac and non ‐cardiac events.

Risk assessment in PAH using quantitative CMR tricuspid regurgitation: relation to heart catheterization
ConclusionsA clear trend towards worse outcome with larger TRV or TR% was shown; however, the number of events was insufficient for significant outcome differences. Prognostic value of quantitative TR should be investigated in a larger multicentre cohort. Effective RV ejection fraction may be considered an improved measure of RV function in PAH.

Gut Microbiota-Derived Short-Chain Fatty Acids Promote Post-Stroke Recovery in Aged Mice.

Prolargin and matrix metalloproteinase ‐2 in heart failure after heart transplantation and their association with haemodynamics
ConclusionsThe normalization pattern in HF patients of plasma prolargin and MMP ‐2 post‐HT towards controls' levels and their associations with improved haemodynamics indicate that prolargin and MMP‐2 may reflect, in part, the aberrant ECM remodelling involved in the pathophysiology of HF and associated PH. Their potential clinical use as biomarkers or targets for future therapy in HF and related PH remains to be investigated.

Bridging the Gap to LVAD Recovery and Explantation
Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation continues to occur at an exceedingly high rate due to the donor and supply mismatch when it comes to heart transplantation. LVADs however do not come without risk and have high rates of significant bleeding, stroke, pump thrombosis and infection. Most of the clinical and research efforts thus far have been focused on LVAD insertion with the goal of destination therapy or as a bridge to transplant. The goal of bridge to recovery has often been underestimated despite multiple studies showing reverse remodeling of the myocardium.
