Impact of Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging on Decision-Making During Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients Presented With Acute Coronary Syndromes.
This study investigated stent-treated lesions immediately after PCI for ACS by using quantitative coronary angiography in 390 patients; 260 patients with OCT-guided PCI and 130 patients with angiography-guided PCI. Before stenting, the frequency of pre-dilatation and thrombus aspiration were not different between the OCT-guided and angiography-guided PCI groups. Stent diameter was significantly larger as a result of OCT-guided PCI (3.11±0.44 mm vs. 2.99±0.45 mm, P=0.011). In post-dilatation, balloon pressure-up (48% vs. 31%, P=0.001) and balloon diameter-up (33% vs. 6%, P

Circ J. 2020 Dec 18;: Authors: Hisatome I, Li P, Miake J, Taufiq F, Mahati E, Maharani N, Utami SB, Kuwabara M, Bahrudin U, Ninomiya H Abstract Serum uric acid (UA) is taken up by endothelial cells and reduces the level of nitric oxide (NO) by inhibiting its production and accelerating its degradation. Home Sleep Apnea Test to Screen Patients With Atrial Fibrillation for Sleep Apnea Prior to Catheter Ablation.
Abstract BACKGROUND: Whether all atrial fibrillation (AF) patients should be evaluated for sleep apnea before catheter ablation (CA) remains controversial. Watch-type peripheral arterial tonometry (W-PAT) is a home sleep testing device and an easier tool for diagnosing sleep apnea than polysomnography. We investigated the prevalence and predictors of sleep apnea using W-PAT in unscreened sleep apnea patients with AF before CA.Methods and Results:The study was conducted under a retrospective, single-center, observational design. We included 776 consecutive patients who underwent both W-PAT and AF ablation. Slee...

Predictive Value of Cystatin C for Stroke Recurrence in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: In ischemic stroke patients with high hsCRP concentrations, higher CysC concentrations increased the risk of stroke recurrence and vascular events. This indicates that the predictive value of CysC on stroke recurrence may depend on the inflammation status of patients. Long-Term Impact of Diabetes Mellitus on Initially Conservatively Managed Patients With Severe Aortic Stenosis.
T, Yoshikawa Y, Inoko M, Ikeda T, Ishii K, Hotta K, Higashitani N, Kato Y, Inuzuka Y, Maeda C, Jinnai T, Morikami Y, Minatoya K, Kimura T, CURRENT AS Registry Investigators Abstract BACKGROUND: Although diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common comorbidity of aortic stenosis (AS), clinical evidence about the long-term effect of DM on patients with AS is insufficient. Methods and Results:Data were acquired from CURRENT AS, a large Japanese multicenter registry that enrolled 3,815 patients with severe AS. Patients without initial valve replacement were defined as the conservative group; among them, 621 (23.4%) had DM, w...

Day-to-Day Variation of Early Repolarization Pattern Predicts Life-Threatening Arrhythmias in Patients With Brugada Syndrome.
Abstract BACKGROUND: We assessed the relationship between day-to-day variation of the early repolarization (ER) pattern and ventricular tachyarrhythmia (VTA) events in Brugada syndrome (BrS) patients because the clinical implications are unclear. Methods and Results:This retrospective study consisted of 41 patients with BrS who underwent implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation. BrS was diagnosed by a spontaneous or drug-induced type 1 ECG without structural heart disease. Day-to-day variation of the ER pattern was defined as temporal change in the J-point (≥0.1 mV) on ECG. VTA events were d...
