miRNA, Inflammation and Coronary Heart Disease
This study demonstrates the relationship between miR-21 and the STAT3 pathway in Coronary Heart Disease. Delivering inhibitory miRNA into cardiomyocytes was key to establishing this relationship. Further study could enable discovery of STAT3 related targets for CV protective drug. In the spirit of helping researchers find the best solutions and protocols for Gene Expression Analysis Studies, we will continue to post new findings.

Crosstalk between the activated Slit2 –Robo1 pathway and TGF‐β1 signalling promotes cardiac fibrosis
ConclusionsThe Slit2 –Robo1 signalling pathway interfered with the TGF‐β1/Smad pathway and promoted cardiac fibrosis. Blockade of Slit2–Robo1 might be a new treatment for cardiac fibrosis.

Immune-Modulation by the Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus: Focus on Dendritic Cells
This study is complemented by another report that found that hRSV infection induces significant expression of three miRNAs, namely hsa-miR-4448, hsa-miR-30a-5p, and hsa-miR-4634 in human DCs (104). Adenine decreases hypertrophic effects through interleukin-18 receptor.
In this study, IL-18 induced cardiomyoblast hypertrophy through IL-18R upregulation, which was found to be related to p38 MAPK and PI3 kinase signaling. Adenine, but not AuNPs, showed antihypertrophic effects possibly because of decreased levels of signaling. PMID: 31535629 [PubMed - in process]

Development of Lipoprotein(a) siRNAs for Mechanism of Action Studies in Non-Human Primate Models of Atherosclerosis
We describe targeting of LPA using lipid nanoparticle formulated short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) in lean rhesus macaque monkeys. We show >90 % LPA mRNA lowering in the liver and >95 % Lp(a) plasma reduction for over 3 weeks after a single siRNA dose. Given the potency of LPA siRNAs, siRNA approach may enable chronic reduction of Lp(a) in atherosclerotic NHP and help to unmask the role for Lp(a) in the genesis and progression of atherosclerosis in man.

A metabolite of Danshen formulae attenuates cardiac fibrosis induced by isoprenaline, via a NOX2/ROS/p38 pathway
Conclusions and ImplicationsIDHP attenuated the cardiac fibrosis induced by isoprenaline through a NOX2/ROS/p38 pathway. These novel findings suggest that IDHP is a potential pharmacological candidate for the treatment of cardiac fibrosis, induced by β‐adrenoceptor agonists.

The roles of nanocarriers on pigment epithelium-derived factor in the differentiation of human cardiac stem cells
In this study, we utilized organically modified silica (ORMOSIL) nanoparticles to deliver small interfering RNA (siRNA) against pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) and induce the differentiation of human cardiac stem cells (CSCs).
