Mitophagy mediated by HIF-1 α/FUNDC1 signaling in tubular cells protects against renal ischemia/reperfusion injury
In conclusion, the HIF-1α/FUNDC1 signaling pathway mediates H/R-promoted renal tubular cell mitophagy, whereas inhibition of this signaling pathway protects cells from mitophagy, thus aggravating apoptosis, and ROS production. Accordingly, roxadustat may protect against RIRI-related AKI.PMID:38584135 | PMC:PMC11000611 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2024.2332492 (Source: Renal Failure)

ELABELA-derived peptide ELA13 attenuates kidney fibrosis by inhibiting the Smad and ERK signaling pathways
In conclusion, ELA13 protected against kidney fibrosis through inhibiting the Smad and ERK signaling pathways and could thus be a promising candidate for anti-renal fibrosis treatment.PMID:38584095 | DOI:10.1631/jzus.B2300033 (Source: J Zhejiang Univ Sci ...)

Effects of low-flux and high-flux hemodialysis on the survival of elderly maintenance hemodialysis patients
CONCLUSIONS: High-flux hemodialysis was associated with a lower relative risk of cardiovascular mortality in elderly MHD patients. High-flux hemodialysis did not improve all-cause mortality rate. Differences in urea distribution volume, blood flow, and systemic differences in solute clearance by dialyzers were not further analyzed, which are the limitations of this study.PMID:38584147 | PMC:PMC11000600 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2024.2338217 (Source: Renal Failure)

Clinicopathological characteristics and gene mutations in 11 patients with lipoprotein glomerulopathy
CONCLUSION: LPG is histologically characterized by lamellated lipoprotein thrombi in glomeruli, and kidney biopsy is essential for diagnosis. Mutations in the APOE gene are the leading cause of LPG. This study revealed clinicopathological characteristics and APOE gene mutations in patients with LPG, which helps us better understand the disease.PMID:38584145 | PMC:PMC10967672 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2024.2332491 (Source: Renal Failure)

Perspectives on AI-based recommendations for mask-wearing and COVID-19 vaccination for transplant recipients in the post-COVID-19 era
Ren Fail. 2024 Dec;46(1):2337291. doi: 10.1080/0886022X.2024.2337291. Epub 2024 Apr 7.ABSTRACTIn the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ongoing necessity for preventive measures such as mask-wearing and vaccination remains particularly critical for organ transplant recipients, a group highly susceptible to infections due to immunosuppressive therapy. Given that many individuals nowadays increasingly utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI), understanding AI perspectives is important. Thus, this study utilizes AI, specifically ChatGPT 4.0, to assess its perspectives in offering precise health recommendations for mask-weari...

Lack of efficacy of aprotinin over tranexamic acid in type A aortic dissection repair
CONCLUSION: Aprotinin did not reduce the risk of bleeding or transfusion requirements in patients undergoing repair of type A aortic dissections. Efficacy of aprotinin may vary depending on the type of surgery performed and the underlying pathology.PMID:38581276 | DOI:10.1111/trf.17819 (Source: Transfusion)
