Expression of HIF ‑α and their association with clinicopathological parameters in clinical renal cell carcinoma
CONCLUSION: The expression levels of the three primary HIF-α proteins were found to be higher in the nucleus than in the cytoplasm. Furthermore, the results indicated that HIF-3α and HIF-1α expression levels were significant univariate factors associated with CSS in patients with clear cell RCC. These results highlight the critical role that HIF-3α and HIF-1α play in the hypoxia pathway.PMID:38571885 | PMC:PMC10989218 | DOI:10.48101/ujms.v129.9407 (Source: Upsala Journal of Medical Sciences)

Outcomes of thyroidectomy for secondary thyroid malignancies, a single center experience
ConclusionsMetastasis to the thyroid gland is a rare phenomenon with an incidence of 0.22% in all thyroid malignancies. It may occur before the detection of the primary tumor or during the follow-up of the primary malignancy. Although the overall prognosis is poor, it can be treated surgically. Curcumin prevents high glucose-induced stimulatory effects of renal cell secretome on fibroblast activation via mitigating intracellular free radicals and TGF- β secretion
Biomed Pharmacother. 2024 Apr 2;174:116536. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2024.116536. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a leading cause of kidney failure. However, the involvement of renal fibroblasts and their communications with renal epithelial cells during DKD remain poorly understood. We investigated the potential role of renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (PTECs) in renal fibroblast activation that might lead to DKD. Additionally, the protective effects of curcumin, a known antioxidant, against renal fibroblast activation induced by high glucose-treated PTECs were investigated. Secretome wa...

CCDC25 suppresses clear cell renal cell carcinoma progression by LATS1/YAP-mediated regulation of the hippo pathway
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is one of the most prevalent renal cancers, and the molecular mechanisms underlying its progression are still not fully understood. The expression of CCDC25, a notably u... (Source: Cancer Cell International)

Characterization of Mitoribosomal Small Subunit unit genes related immune and pharmacogenomic landscapes in renal cell carcinoma
AbstractMitoribosomes are essential for the production of biological energy. The Human Mitoribosomal Small Subunit unit (MRPS) family, responsible for encoding mitochondrial ribosomal small subunits, is actively engaged in protein synthesis within the mitochondria. Intriguingly, MRPS family genes appear to play a role in cancer. A multistep process was employed to establish a risk model associated with MRPS genes, aiming to delineate the immune and pharmacogenomic landscapes in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). MRPScores were computed for individual patients to assess their responsiveness to various treatment modali...
