Clinical and imaging features of lymphomatosis cerebri: analysis of 8 cases and systematic review of the literature
AbstractLymphomatosis cerebri (LC) is a rare type of primary central nervous system lymphoma with diffuse, nonenhancing infiltrative lesions and is often misdiagnosed. Our study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and prognosis of LC through analyzing patients from the literature and our own center, so as to improve early diagnosis and treatment. PubMed, Web of Science and our hospital databases were reviewed, and information on demographic, clinical, pathological, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), neuroimaging and treatment options was extracted. Univariate survival analysis was conducted by generating survival cur...

Exosomal miR-200c and miR-141 as cerebrospinal fluid biopsy biomarkers for the response to chemotherapy in primary central nervous system lymphoma
ConclusionCollectively, miR-200c and miR-141 are likely to be upregulated in CSF exosomes after chemotherapy in patients with PCNSL, highlighting their potential as reliable liquid biopsy biomarkers for PCNSL diagnosis and chemotherapy efficacy monitoring. (Source: Hormones and Cancer)

Is reduced-dose whole-brain radiotherapy also feasible in primary CNS lymphoma for curative or salvage purpose?
ConclusionReduced-dose WBRT in curative and salvage treatments for PCNSL had no significant negative effect on the intracranial disease control rate or survival. Therefore, without impaired efficacy, use of reduced-dose WBRT appears promising for reduction of neurotoxicity. (Source: Journal of Neuro-Oncology)

A comprehensive overview of diagnosis, imaging and treatment of vitreoretinal lymphoma
Eur J Ophthalmol. 2023 Nov 13:11206721231211931. doi: 10.1177/11206721231211931. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVitreoretinal lymphoma (VRL) is a rare B-cell intraocular neoplasia characterized by poor long-term prognosis and lack of effective therapies. It mainly involves the vitreous humor, the retina, and the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), although anterior segment involvement can occur. VRL is classified as a lymphoma of immune privileged sites, along with testis lymphoma and primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL). VRL and PCNSL are strictly connected indeed: 80% of VRL develop PCNSL, while 20% of patients w...

Associations between BMI  in youth and site-specific cancer in men-A cohort study with register linkage
CONCLUSIONS: This study reports linear associations between BMI at age 18 and subsequent site-specific cancers, calling for rapid action to stem the obesity epidemic and to prepare the health care system for steep increases in cancer cases.PMID:37927128 | DOI:10.1002/oby.23942 (Source: Obesity)

Prognosis, Risk Factors and Clinical Features of Intraocular Recurrence in Primary Vitreoretinal Lymphoma
CONCLUSIONS: This study did not identify an impact of intraocular recurrence on CNS manifestations or survival outcomes in patients with PVRL. Younger patients have a higher risk of intraocular recurrence, and combined systemic and intravitreal chemotherapy may reduce intraocular recurrence. Regular ophthalmic follow-up and IL-10 testing are recommended to detect intraocular recurrence.PMID:37918656 | DOI:10.1016/j.oret.2023.10.021 (Source: Cancer Control)

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 5266: Functional Outcome and Overall Survival in Patients with Primary or Secondary CNS Lymphoma after Surgical Resection vs. Biopsy
Conclusions: Our data show a favourable outcome when resection is compared to either stereotactic or open biopsy. Additionally, the marginally improved postoperative functional status observed in patients who underwent resection, as opposed to in those who underwent biopsy, provides further evidence in favour of the advantages of surgical resection for enhancing neurological deficits.
