The Pediatric Proton and Photon Therapy Comparison Cohort: Study Design for a Multicenter Retrospective Cohort to Investigate Subsequent Cancers After Pediatric Radiation Therapy
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings will affect clinical practice for pediatric patients with cancer by providing the first large-scale systematic comparison of the risk of subsequent cancers from proton compared with photon therapy.PMID:38047226 | PMC:PMC10692298 | DOI:10.1016/j.adro.2023.101273 (Source: Adv Data)

Epileptic seizures in patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma: A systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Further studies are needed to investigate seizures in larger cohorts of PCNSL, to clarify their prevalence, better characterize them, identify risk factors, analyze survival rates, and make recommendations on AED management. We recommend following general practice guidelines for seizures symptomatic of brain tumors and not to prescribe AED prophylaxis in PCNSL.PMID:38042665 | DOI:10.1016/j.neurol.2023.08.021 (Source: Revue Neurologique)

Primary anaplastic large cell lymphoma arising from central nervous system
AbstractA 22-year-old man presented at the emergency department with progressive headache, vomiting and horizontal diplopia over 2-month period. He also developed blurred vision in his left eye. He complained of loss of appetite for the past 2 months, resulting in a 5-kg weight loss. Examination upon arrival revealed papilledema and bilateral abducens nerve palsy. Motor and sensory functions were intact. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain revealed multiple extra-axial nodular enhancing lesions with size of 5 –10 mm mainly along with both sides of falx cerebri and vasogenic brain oedema (Fig.1). Stereotactic br...

Differentiating primary central nervous system lymphoma from glioblastoma by time-dependent diffusion using oscillating gradient
This study aimed to elucidate the impact of effective diffusion time setting on apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC)-based differentiation between primary central nervous system lymphomas (PCNSLs) and glioblas... (Source: Cancer Imaging)

Impact of Folinic Acid Dosing on Efficacy and Toxicity of High-Dose Methotrexate in Central Nervous System Lymphoma
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that optimizing FA dosing to avoid very high rescue doses may improve treatment outcomes in PCNSL patients receiving HDMTX. Further prospective studies are warranted to validate these findings.PMID:38008594 | DOI:10.1016/j.clml.2023.10.012 (Source: Clinical Lymphoma and Myeloma)

Primary breast diffuse large B ‐cell lymphoma in the rituximab era: A retrospective study of the Chinese Southwest Oncology Group
ConclusionCollectively, our results indicate combined modality therapy including rituximab-containing immunochemotherapy and consolidative breast RT is a promising approach for PB-DLBCL, while HD-MTX is useful for preventing CNS relapse. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 5564: Involved-Site Radiation Therapy Enables Effective Disease Control in Parenchymal Low-Grade Primary Cerebral Lymphoma
Conclusions: Our analysis corroborates the results from the literature and demonstrates that parenchymal low-grade PCNSL shows a good response to localized radiation treatment, enabling a favorable outcome while avoiding long-term treatment toxicity. (Source: Cancers)

Central Nervous System Lymphoma
This article provides a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of CNSL encompassing its epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment modalities, and prognosis. Although the main focus is on primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL), ocular lymphoma, primary leptomeningeal lymphoma, and secondary CNS lymphoma are also discussed. The pathobiology of CNSL involves the infiltration of malignant lymphocytes within the CNS parenchyma or leptomeninges. Various risk factors and immunological mechanisms contribute to its development, including immunodeficiency states, chronic inflammation, and genomic ...
