COVID-19 vaccination and infection status: a cross-sectional survey of patients with rheumatic diseases in China
AbstractTo evaluate the vaccination status and clinical practice of patients with rheumatic diseases (RD) during the COVID-19 pandemic in China and to explore the impact of vaccination on infection severity in patients with RD. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among RD patients in outpatient and inpatient settings of the Rheumatology and Immunology Department in our hospital. Participants ’ characteristics, vaccination status, COVID-19 infection status, and medication for acute COVID-19 were collected. A total of 749 valid surveys were included in the study. A total of 271 (36.2%) patients were not vaccinated, and ...

Fragments Synthesis of A. baumannii ATCC 17961 O-Antigen
Synlett DOI: 10.1055/a-2272-8163 Acinetobacter baumannii can cause many diseases including septicemia, pneumonia, meningitis, soft tissue, and urinary tract infections. Herein, we described the synthesis of one trisaccharide and two tetrasaccharide fragments derived from A. baumannii ATCC 17961 O-antigen that can be used for screening novel glyco-epitopes and for developing a synthetic carbohydrate-based vaccine against A. baumannii infection. The overall yields for the synthesis of the desired trisaccharide 1, tetrasaccharide 2, and tetrasaccharide 3 are 26.8% (8 steps), 21.6% (9 steps), and 24.5% (6 steps), respec...

Ongoing measles outbreak, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, December 2023 to February 2024
We report on an ongoing measles outbreak in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with 141 cases notified between week 52 2023 and week 6 2024. Among those with known vaccination status, 97% were unvaccinated and the most affected group is children under the age of 5 years (n = 87) who were not vaccinated during the pandemic years. Sixty-eight cases were hospitalised, the most common complications were measles-related pneumonia and diarrhoea. The sequenced measles viruses from four cases belonged to genotype D8.PMID:38426241 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2024.29.9.2400107 (Source: Euro Surveill)

Co-administration of the adjuvanted recombinant zoster vaccine with other adult vaccines: An overview
CONCLUSIONS: Co-administration of RZV with routine vaccines does not significantly alter the reactogenicity, immunogenicity or safety of RZV or the co-administered vaccine. Healthcare practitioners should consider routine co-administration of RZV with other adult vaccines to improve vaccination coverage.PMID:38423814 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2024.02.035 (Source: Vaccine)
