Perioperative Cefazolin for Total Joint Arthroplasty Patients Who Have a Penicillin Allergy: Is it Safe?
Cefazolin is the standard of care for perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis in total joint arthroplasty (TJA) in the United States. The potential allergic cross-reactivity between cefazolin and penicillin causes uncertainty regarding optimal antibiotic choice in patients who have a reported penicillin allergy (rPCNA). Isolation and Identification of < em > Pasteurella multocida < /em > and < em > Mannheimia haemolytica < /em > from Pneumonic Small Ruminants and Their Antibiotic Susceptibility in Haramaya District, Eastern Ethiopia
CONCLUSION: This study showed that M. haemolytica and P. multocida are the common causes of mannheimiosis and pasteurellosis in small ruminants, respectively, and isolates were resistant to commonly used antibiotics in the study area. Characterization of Ceftriaxone-Resistant < em > Haemophilus influenzae < /em > Among Korean Children
CONCLUSION: The emergence of ceftriaxone-resistant H. influenzae with ceftriaxone MIC values of up to 0.75 mg/L was observed even in children in South Korea, with most associated with S385T and L389F substitutions. The N526K mutation alone does not significantly impact ceftriaxone resistance.
