Development of a standardized process for transition to adult care in a pediatric colorectal surgery clinic
As pediatric patients with colorectal diseases grow, it is important to address transition to adult practice. We aim to describe our center ’s transition process and early outcomes. (Source: Journal of Pediatric Surgery)

Patterns And Outcomes In Pediatric Abdominal Tuberculosis: A Single Centre Cohort Study
Abdominal tuberculosis presents in a variety of ways. Different testing modalities must be applied in addition to having a high clinical suspicion to diagnose and initiate therapy. Medications have a good response; however, morbidity has been seen following surgical management of complicated presentations like intestinal obstruction and perforation. There is a paucity of studies in the pediatric age group which evaluate response to the different treatment regimen and identify factors associated with poorer outcomes in children with abdominal tuberculosis. Imaging findings of children with PTEN-related hamartoma tumor syndrome: a 20-year multicentric pediatric cohort
ConclusionBrain abnormalities, benign non-vascular soft tissue abnormalities, and vascular anomalies are commonly seen in children and adolescents with PTEN-related hamartoma tumor syndrome. However, malignancies involving the thyroid gland are not uncommon. Familiarity with the phenotype of PTEN-related hamartoma tumor syndrome in the pediatric population can improve diagnosis and prompt appropriate clinical surveillance of abnormal findings that warrant further management.Graphical abstract (Source: Pediatric Radiology)

Implications of a Biological Poverty Line for Infants
This Viewpoint discusses whether protective and promotive interventions in brain development would benefit from identification of a “biological poverty line” during pregnancy and early childhood, above which the brain is informed and enhanced by experience in positive ways, and below which adverse experiences may influence the brain in ways that do not support long-term health trajectories. Enhancing the Interpretation of Continuous Outcomes and Subgroup Analyses in Systematic Reviews —Reply
Discussion section of our article. Although MID emerges as a reliable approach to enhance the utility of the findings for both clinicians and patients, several concerns limit our enthusiasm for the use of MID. (Source: JAMA Pediatrics)

Enhancing the Interpretation of Continuous Outcomes and Subgroup Analyses in Systematic Reviews
To the Editor Zhou et al conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the associations of problem-solving skills training (PSST) with parental, pediatric, and family psychosocial outcomes for parents of children with chronic health conditions. For meta-analysis, the study used the standardized mean difference (SMD) for pooling scores from different scales and found significant improvements in most outcomes were associated with PSST delivered online, such as depression (SMD, −0.45; 95% CI, −0.66 to −0.23), distress (SMD, −0.61; 95% CI, −0.81 to −0.40), and quality of life (SMD, 0.45; 95% CI, 0....

Low surgical weight associated with ETV failure in pediatric hydrocephalus patients
In this study, younger patients experienced higher ETV failure rates, but multivariate regression found that weight was a more robust pr edictor of ETV failure than chronologic age or gestational age, with an optimal cutoff of 4.9 kg in our small cohort. Given the limited sample size, further study is needed to elucidate the independent role of weight as a peri-operative variable in determining ETV candidacy in young infants.Previous presentations: Poster Presentation, Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Efficacy and utility of antifibrinolytics in pediatric spine surgery: a systematic review and network meta-analysis
AbstractAntifibrinolytics have gained increasing attention in minimizing blood loss and mitigating the risks associated with massive transfusions, including infection and coagulopathy in pediatric patients undergoing spine surgery. Nevertheless, the selection of optimal agent is still a matter of debate. We aim to review the utility of these agents and compare the efficacy of antifibrinolytics in pediatric and adolescent spine surgeries. A comprehensive search was performed in Scopus, Web of Science, and MEDLINE databases for relevant works. Studies providing quantitative data on predefined outcomes were included. Primary ...

Two cases of diquat poisoning in adolescent children
In this report, we compare two similar cases of juvenile diquat poisoning with dynamic changes in clinical manifestations, laboratory values, and imaging results. For the first time, the difference in whether to perform blood flow perfusion and the time difference of initiation of hemoperfusion had a clear clinical difference in the subsequent effects of diquat poisoning in children with diquat poisoning. Limited evidence is available regarding the efficacy of early hemoperfusion for diquat poisoning; however, the differences in clinical outcomes articulated here highlight the benefits of early and timely hemoperfusion the...
