Effect of the timing of insertion of postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (PPIUCD) copper T380A on expulsion rates
CONCLUSIONS: In the present study PPIUCD was found to be safe with overall expulsion in 4.3 per cent. It was marginally, though not significantly, higher in the immediate group.PMID:37282395 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_1485_19 (Source: Indian J Med Res)

Automated mandatory bolus versus basal infusion for maintenance of epidural analgesia in labour
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, AMB is associated with lower incidence of breakthrough pain, reduced LA consumption, and may improve maternal satisfaction. There were no significant differences between AMB and BI in the incidence of caesarean delivery, instrumental delivery, duration of labour analgesia, and Apgar scores. Larger studies assessing the incidence of caesarean and instrumental delivery are required.PMID:37276327 | PMC:PMC10240562 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD011344.pub3 (Source: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews)

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 5977: Developing a Model for Integrating of Tuberculosis, Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Primary Healthcare Services in Oliver Reginald (O.R) Tambo District, Eastern Cape, South Africa
This study aims to fill this vacuum by describing the development of a paradigm for integrating TB, HIV, and patient services in a single facility and highlights the importance of TB-HIV services for greater accessibility under one roof. Development of the proposed model occurred in several phases that included assessment of the existing integration model for TB-HIV and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative data from the study sites, which were selected public health facilities in rural and peri-urban areas in the Oliver Reginald (O.R.) Tambo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Secondary data on cl...

Risk of adverse obstetric outcomes in patients with a history of endometrial cancer: A nationwide population-based cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: There is no convincing evidence of an increased risk of adverse obstetric outcomes among women with a history of EC. Our findings would be useful in counselling of patients with EC who are undergoing fertility-sparing treatment.PMID:37218424 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17553 (Source: BJOG : An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Unplanned pregnancy and the association with maternal health and pregnancy outcomes: A Swedish cohort study
ConclusionsUnplanned pregnancy was associated with delayed initiation of antenatal care, higher odds for induction of labor and longer hospital stay, but not with any severe pregnancy outcomes. These findings suggest that women with an unplanned pregnancy cope well in a setting with free abortion and free health care. (Source: PLoS One)

Intrapartum ultrasound visualization of the Odon device during operative vaginal delivery
Concerning emergency cesarean delivery vs operative vaginal delivery with forceps or vacuum, the current scientific debate on the maximum length of the second stage is inherently conditioned by the safety concerns associated with the intervention options to hasten birth.1 The use of forceps and vacuum leads to successful fetal extraction in most cases2 and is recommended by the leading scientific societies in women with prolonged second stage of labor and engaged fetal head to safely avoid primary cesarean delivery.
