A portable primary-standard level graphite calorimeter for absolute dosimetry in clinical pencil beam scanning proton beams
Phys Med Biol. 2023 Jul 6. doi: 10.1088/1361-6560/ace50f. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTo report the use of a portable primary standard level graphite calorimeter for direct dose determination in clinical pencil beam scanning proton beams, which forms part of the recommendations of the proposed Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) Code of Practice (CoP) for proton therapy dosimetry.
Approach: The Primary Standard Proton Calorimeter (PSPC) was developed at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and measurements were performed at four clinical proton therapy facilities that use pencil beam scannin...

Initial experience of transpapillary gallbladder biopsy using newly designed device delivery system
Endosc Int Open 2023; 11: E613-E617 DOI: 10.1055/a-2095-0098Transpapillary gallbladder biopsy has been reported for the diagnosis of gallbladder disease, and this procedure requires special biopsy forceps or a large-diameter pusher catheter. We retrospectively examined consecutive patients who underwent transpapillary gallbladder biopsy using a newly designed device delivery system (Endosheather; Piolax Medical Device, Kanagawa, Japan). We evaluated 11 patients (median age, 71 years [28–85]) who underwent transpapillary gallbladder biopsy from June 2021 to July 2022. The selective gallbladder cannulation and delivery sys...

Predictive factors for obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) in nulliparous women: systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Given there was ultrasound evidence of structural damage to the AS in 26% of women who first delivered vaginally, clinicians should have a low threshold of suspicion. Our systematic review identified several predictive factors for this. This article is protected by copyright. Correlation between bituberous diameter and mode of delivery in a cohort of low-risk nulliparous women
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that antepartum clinical assessment of the BTD might be used as a reliable predictor of UOI due to labor dystocia in low-risk, nulliparous women at term gestation.IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Antenatal identification of women at higher risk for labor dystocia might trigger some interventions during the second stage of labor, such as maternal position shifting, to increase the pelvic capacity and potentially improve outcomes or might prompt a referral of the patient to a district hospital prior to the onset of labor.PMID:37300981 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.05.023 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Effect of the timing of insertion of postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (PPIUCD) copper T380A on expulsion rates
CONCLUSIONS: In the present study PPIUCD was found to be safe with overall expulsion in 4.3 per cent. It was marginally, though not significantly, higher in the immediate group.PMID:37282395 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_1485_19 (Source: The Indian Journal of Medical Research)
