Analysis of Perinatal Outcome of Forceps Delivery and Risk Factors of Postpartum Hemorrhage
CONCLUSION: The incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in the forceps assisted delivery group is higher, with occipital posterior position, abnormal coagulation function, soft birth canal tear, and lateral perineal incision being high-risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage in forceps assisted delivery. We need to strengthen prevention and control measures to improve the quality of the perinatal period. This study has guiding significance for early identification of high-risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage, strengthening pre pregnancy knowledge education, strengthening labor process monitoring, actively correcting fetal orie...

Internal manual rotation in intrapartal arrest of fetal head engagement
CONCLUSION: Internal head rotation is a simple, safe and successful obstetric manual intervention that directly increases the rate of vaginal deliveries after correction of the birth mechanism anomaly and directly reduces the percentage of cesarean section. Manual or digital head rotation is an established midwifery/obstetric skill in several centers which, based on numerous clinical researches and experience, should become protocolized and included in the guidelines of professional associations.PMID:38056412 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.12.001 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Employing fasting plasma glucose to safely limit the use of oral glucose tolerance tests in pregnancy: a pooled analysis of four Norwegian studies
ConclusionA FPG threshold of 4.7mmol/l as a first step when screening for GDM could potentially eliminate the need for OGTT in 70-77% of pregnancies. Women with FPG below this threshold appear to carry low risk of GDM-associated adverse pregnancy outcomes. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

Perineal Scar Endometriosis Post Forceps Vaginal Delivery
AbstractScar endometriosis is increasingly being reported with the increase in surgeries particularly cesarean sections. Episiotomy scars, resulting from surgical incisions made during childbirth, are uncommon sites for endometriosis. This case report presents a unique occurrence of endometriosis within an episiotomy scar. We discuss the clinical presentation, diagnostic and management approach, to shed light on this rare manifestation of endometriosis. (Source: The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India)

Factors associated with urinary retention after vaginal delivery under intraspinal anesthesia: a path analysis model
ConclusionsThis study provides an empirical model to illustrate the relationship between PUR and related factors in women who delivered under intraspinal anesthesia. In future management, more attention should be paid to women who live in cities, have higher levels of postpartum pain, longer analgesic duration, higher grade of perineal edema, and received episiotomy, forceps delivery, and oxytocin during labor. Changing Trends of Obstetric Hysterectomy Over Last 2 Decades: A Retrospective Analysis from a Single Center Tertiary Care Rural Teaching Hospital of Western India
ConclusionPrimary CS rates should be decreased to prevent adherent placenta spectrum disorders. Good antenatal care and development of a robust referral system can decrease maternal mortality. Greater utilization of skill laboratory and simulators will go a long way in developing the skills of aspiring doctors in operative vaginal deliveries. Intrauterine Postpartum Hemorrhage-Control Devices
Obstet Gynecol. 2023 Oct 5. doi: 10.1097/AOG.0000000000005403. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPostpartum hemorrhage, defined as a cumulative blood loss of 1,000 mL or more or blood loss associated with signs or symptoms of hypovolemia regardless of the route of delivery, is the leading cause of preventable maternal death worldwide. The United States has one of the highest maternal mortality rates among developed countries, with about 14% of all maternal deaths associated with postpartum hemorrhage. Although postpartum hemorrhage has multiple causes, the most common is uterine atony-when the uterus fails to adequately contra...
