Rapid cycle deliberate practice: application in forceps simulation training for gynecology and obstetrics residents
CONCLUSIONS: RCDP exhibits immediate efficacy in elevating forceps delivery skills among residents. However, sustained skill enhancement necessitates innovative approaches, while RCDP's value lies in tailored feedback and reflection for enriched medical education.PMID:38478750 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2023.2301596 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Timing of induction of labor in suspected macrosomia: retrospective cohort study, systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Timing of IOL in patients with suspected macrosomia significantly impacts perinatal adverse outcomes. IOL has no impact on rates of SD but does increase CD when considered irrespective of gestational age, but it may decrease the risk of SD without increasing the risk of other adverse maternal outcomes, in particular cesarean section when performed before 40+0 WG. Effect of dry heat and its combination with vacuum heat on physicochemical, rheological and release characteristics of Alocasia macrorrhizos retrograded starches
Int J Biol Macromol. 2024 Mar 11;264(Pt 2):130733. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2024.130733. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRetrograded starches have received increasing attention due to their potential excipient properties in pharmaceutical formulations. However, to evade its application-oriented challenges, modification of retrograded starch is required. The study emphasizes influence of dry heating and the dual heat treatment by dry heating amalgamation with the vacuum heat treatment on quality parameters of retrograded starch. The starch was isolated by using two different extraction media (0.05 % w/v NaOH and 0.03 % citric ...

Obstetric and Neonatal Outcomes Following Hospital Transfers of Home Births and Births in Midwife-led Units in Austria
CONCLUSION: If a birth which was planned as a home delivery or as a delivery in a midwife-led unit fails to progress because of (possible) anomalies, the midwife must respond and transfer the mother to hospital. This leads to a higher percentage of clinical interventions occurring in hospital. From the perspective of clinical obstetrics, it is understandable, based on the existing data, that giving birth outside a clinical setting cannot be recommended.PMID:38456000 | PMC:PMC10917609 | DOI:10.1055/a-2249-7228 (Source: Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde)
