Provider-patient relationships and trauma among pregnant patients with opioid-use disorder
CONCLUSIONS AND SCIENTIFIC SIGNIFICANCE: Analyses show an association between probable PTSD and provider-patient relationship among pregnant patients with OUD, with those with probable PTSD having a worse alliance with obstetric providers. This novel finding helps characterize the provider-patient relationship among a uniquely vulnerable population and can inform efforts to integrate trauma-informed practices into prenatal care.PMID:38685767 | DOI:10.1111/ajad.13570 (Source: American Journal on Addictions)

A cold case of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn resolved by genomic sequencing and population studies to define a new antigen in the Rh system
CONCLUSION: This antibody was of clinical significance, resulting in a mild to moderate hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). In the past, the cause of such HDFN cases may have remained unresolved. Genomic sequencing combined with population studies now assists in resolving such cases. Further population studies have potential to inform the need to design population-specific red cell antibody typing panels for antibody screening in the Australian population.PMID:38686705 | DOI:10.1111/trf.17205 (Source: Transfusion)

The role of Ca < sup > 2+ < /sup > signalling and InsP3R in the pathogenesis of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy
CONCLUSIONS: Our results revealed that the expression of InsP3R and serum Ca2+ levels was significantly decreased in the liver tissue of ICP model rats. Additionally, Ca2+ levels were found to be negatively correlated with the level of glycocholic acid.PMID:38685831 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2024.2345276 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

The effect of bariatric surgery on polycystic ovary syndrome patients ’ obstetric and neonatal outcomes: a population-based study
ConclusionsBS in PCOS patients was associated with reduced risks for GDM and PIH when compared to PCOS controls without BS and reduced risk for gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, and preeclampsia or eclampsia superimposed on hypertension when compared to obese PCOS controls without BS. Moreover, BS was associated with reduced inherent pregnancy risks of PCOS, almost equating them to those of non-PCOS counterparts. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)
