Seroprevalence of < em > Toxocara < /em > spp. in Pregnant Women: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: In the present study, significant prevalence was reported; however, considering the limited number of studies, it seems that the actual prevalence of the disease is higher. Therefore, it seems necessary to monitor this health problem in pregnant women.PMID:38682081 | PMC:PMC11055642 | DOI:10.1155/2024/1943353 (Source: Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynecology)

Autologous platelet-rich plasma for assisted reproduction
CONCLUSIONS: We are uncertain about the effect of intrauterine or intraovarian administration of PRP on outcomes of assisted reproduction technology in infertile women. The pooled results should be interpreted with caution. Only one of the 12 included studies was judged at low risk of bias. Other limitations of the included trials were failure to report live birth, poor reporting of methods, lack of prospective protocol registration, low precision due to the small number of enrolled participants, indirectness due to the specific subpopulations and settings studied, and insufficient or absent safety data.PMID:38682756 | DOI...

Navigating an unexpected diagnosis - experience of a tertiary referral centre with two cases of intraplacental choriocarcinoma
Malays J Pathol. 2024 Apr;46(1):91-94.ABSTRACTIntraplacental choriocarcinoma is a rare tumour, with approximately 62 reported cases. It may manifest as a spectrum of disease ranging from an incidental lesion diagnosed on routine placental examination to disseminated maternal and/or neonatal disease. In this case series, we presented two rare cases of intraplacental choriocarcinoma with extremely varied clinical presentations. The extremely varied clinical presentations of both patients described in the case series complicated the process of arriving at the diagnosis. In both cases, subsequent investigations showed no mater...

Multidisciplinary care of peripartum heart failure: A scientific statement of the Heart Failure Association of the ESC
AbstractHeart failure is the most common cardiovascular complication during pregnancy and the postpartum period. It is associated with increased risk of maternal morbidity and mortality as well as potentially life-threatening foetal pathology. Management of heart failure in pregnancy requires expert knowledge of cardiovascular disease as well as obstetrics which underscores the importance of multidisciplinary cardio-obstetrics teams in order to optimize diagnosis, treatment and outcome. This includes counselling of women at risk before and during the course of pregnancy in order to strengthen the relationship between medic...

Chromosomal abnormalities study for anembryonic pregnancy by BACs-on-Beads technique
Approximately 15 –20 % of all clinically recognized pregnancies end in first-trimester loss/miscarriage, with live birth occurring in only 30 % of all pregnancies [1,2]. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) define miscarriage as the loss of a pregnancy bef ore 20 weeks of gestation or the ejection or removal of an embryo or fetus that weighs 500 g or less, with most miscarriages happening during the first trimester of pregnancy. Anembryonic pregnancy (AP) or blighted ovum is a non-viable condition causing 50 % of all miscarriages. (Source: European Journal ...

Analysis of MRI brain biometrics in fetuses monitored for intra uterine growth restriction and their prognostic value: Results of a prospective multicenter study
Intra uterine growth restriction is a public health, with a variable incidence estimated at nearly 10  % of births in developed countries [1,2] and up to 34 % in emerging countries [3] with a recent estimation of nearly 32 million cases worldwide per year [4,5]. This pathology is associated with increased neonatal morbimortality [6]. (Source: European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology)

Total spinal anaesthesia following obstetric neuraxial blockade: a narrative review
Total spinal anaesthesia (TSA) is a recognised complication of all neuraxial local anaesthetic (LA) techniques. It refers to a high neuraxial block causing respiratory failure and/or loss of consciousness, usually requiring airway intervention.1 –7 In contrast to other emergencies, there are few evidence-based guidelines for its prevention and treatment. We have performed a narrative review which aims to describe the epidemiology, pathophysiology and management of TSA. (Source: International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia)

A Randomised Trial on the Effects of the Addition of Uterosacral Ligament Plication to Pectopexy Operation on Anatomical Restoration and Female Sexual Functions
ConclusionPectopexy operation seems to be a successful surgical approach as an alternative to sacrocolpopexy. The addition of uterosacral ligament plication to pectopexy operation improves the anatomical restoration more drastically than with LP on its own. Moreover, either LP or LPUSL has improved the majority of sexual function indices. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction)

Comparison of prone with lithotomy position in removal of posterior myoma in transvaginal natural orifice endoscopic surgery: a prospective cohort study
Vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) is considered to have the advantages of completely scarless, less postoperative pain, earlier flatus, and faster postoperative recovery. However, posterior myoma are relatively difficult to operate through vNOTES in the conventional lithotomy position. Thus, we innovated the application of prone position in removal of posterior myoma in vNOTES. The aim of this study is the comparison of myomectomy outcomes of patient for single posterior myoma in prone and lithotomy position. (Source: The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology)
