Urine high-risk human papillomavirus testing as an alternative to routine cervical screening: A comparative diagnostic accuracy study of two urine collection devices using a randomised study design trial
CONCLUSIONS: Testing of FVU-device-collected urine for HPV was superior to standard-pot-collected urine in colposcopy attendees and has promising sensitivity for CIN2+ detection. General population HPV testing of FVU-device-collected urine will establish its clinical performance and acceptability as an alternative to routine cervical screening.PMID:38660737 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17831 (Source: BJOG : An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Treatment methods for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia in England: A cost-effectiveness analysis
CONCLUSIONS: LLETZ is the most cost-effective treatment for both younger and older women. However, for older women, more radical excision with laser conisation could also be considered if the NHS is willing to spend more than £31,500 to avert one CIN2+ recurrence.PMID:38659133 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17829 (Source: BJOG : An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Midwives' approach to the prevention and repair of obstetric perineal trauma in Spain
ConclusionsThere is a significant variability in Spanish midwives' practices for preventing and repairing perineal tears. Moreover, the restrictive use of episiotomy is associated with midwives attending home births, working in teaching hospitals and having recent professional training.Patient or Public ContributionNo patient or public contribution. The Association Between Unintended Pregnancy and Perinatal Outcomes in Low ‐Risk Pregnancies: A Retrospective Registry Study in the Netherlands
This study used data (N = 9803) from a Dutch nationally representative registry of people with low-risk pregnancies receiving primary midwife-led care in the Netherlands between 2012 and 2020. Using logistic (mediation) regression analyses adjusted for potential confounders we investigated associations between unintended pregnancy and neonatal outcomes (low Apgar score, small for gestational age, and prematurity), parental morbidity (hypertension and gestational diabetes mellitus), and obstetric interventions (induction of labor, pain medication, assisted vaginal birth, and cesarean birth) and whether delayed initiation of...

PD-L1 Expression in Nonbacterial Chronic Cystitis and Bladder Cancer
ConclusionsExpression of PD-L1 was detected in a cohort of NCC patients, although the PD-L1 positivity rate was lower than that in BC. Our results demonstrate that the degree of PD-L1 expression in bladder tissue is associated with the presence of viral infections and with the degree of inflammatory infiltration of the bladder wall in both NCC and BC. Timing of administration of antenatal magnesium sulphate and correlation with umbilical cord blood magnesium levels in preterm babies
Preterm brain damage is still a significant and unresolved problem for neonatologists. Periventricular leukomalacia, intraventricular/intraparenchymal hemorrhage and white matter damage are among the cerebral abnormalities that follow encephalopathy of prematurity and are significantly linked to subsequent cerebral palsy and neurobehavioral developmental issues. These types of brain damage can occur for a variety of reasons, such as inflammation or ischemia assault. There could be a number of risk factors which exist during, before and after birth (e.g., extra and inta-uterine growth restriction, perinatal hypoxia –ische...

Impact of COVID-19 on essential healthcare services at the primary healthcare level in Armenia: a qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the delivery and utilization of essential healthcare services at PHC facilities, especially for those with chronic conditions who needed continuous care. Unified national-level guidance and technical capacity are needed to direct the provision of essential services at the PHC level, promote effective health communication, and implement digital platforms for the uninterrupted provision of essential care during public health emergencies.PMID:38658818 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02377-6 (Source: Primary Care)
