Tufts MBS vs Loyola MAMS vs Tulane Cellular and Molecular Biology
I am graduating from JHU this May with major in Neuroscience. I submitted SMP applications late March 2019 and completed them 2 weeks ago. So far, I have been accepted to the following SMP programs: Tufts MBS, Loyola MAMS, Tulane Cellular and Molecular Biology. I am waiting to hear from JHU, U Cincinnati, and Boston.
I am looking at the following two options and would like your advice.
Option 1: SMP program - classes with 1st year medical school students (e.g. Tufts MBS). I plan to apply...

3,19 undergraduate GPA, with an ongoing 4.0 as a post bacc.
I graduated with a 3.19 GPA with a Biochemistry and Molecular biology major (total of about 120 credits). I did not bother applying to any school obviously, so I decided to do a Post bacc for 2 years. This was just a combination of retaking classes and taking upper level classes. I took 9 credit hours in my first semester (honors biochemistry 1, physics 2, and Cell biology), and got all A's. I am currently taking biochemistry 2, clinical biochemistry, physiopsychology, and a upper level...

PhD to MD. Reapplicant. Feeling discouraged.
I am finishing the fourth year of my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I applied to medical school for several reasons, including missing having the patient interactions, directly impacting patients' lives, generally loving the field of medicine, not wanting the instability of academic life (relying on grants for funding), feeling burnt out by the mindset of academia (only getting high impact publications if you have big PIs on your manuscripts, etc.), and so on. Looking back, I do...

Tulane cell and molecular biology 1 year masters
Hey everyone,
I just got accepted to Tulane’s 1 year cmb masters. I’m crazy excited about the program but I’d love some insight on when to apply to medical school, how to get the most out of the program etc.
I’m take the mcat in June and was planning on applying this cycle, but now I’m wondering if the program would essentially be “wasted” if I applied before it began.
Does anyone have any advice? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can I take this to satisfy General Biology/Bio I and Bio II?
I was wondering whether it would be okay to take intro to cell and molecular biology as well as intro to physiology to satisfy the biology requirements. I consider them general biology and it's part of my major, but did anyone have an issue with it? Do you think it would be an issue with medical schools? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non-traditional applicant: what are my chances?
Sorry that my story is going to be pretty long. I don't know whether I should be considered a non-traditional applicant or not but here is my background:
I'm currently a 6th year at UCLA majoring in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology (MCDB), and 24 yo.
Overall GPA: 3.005
Science GPA: 2.859
UCLA is a quarter-based school and during my 1st year I took a quarter off and I retro-withdrew from a quarter (because I never attended lectures so I got all Fs), during 3rd year I...

Take MCAT Before Applying to Post Bacc/SMP?
I'm about to finish my undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology this semester. My cGPA is 2.87 and sGPA is 2.63. If I retake the classes I got below a C- in my sGPA could go up to 2.9. I have about 1000+ hours in clinical volunteering, 250+ hours of research, and 100+ hours in MD/DO shadowing. I would like to apply to a DO school in the future.
I'm planning on taking a 1-2 year gap to do a SMP with linkage or Post Bacc program to improve my gpa. Do I have to take the MCAT before I...
