Change major after applying
Hi everyone, I applied in June through TMDSAS and AMCAS and indicated that I am a molecular and cell biology major, however, due to scheduling conflicts, I had to change my major to general biology last semester (Fall 2016, after I applied). I also had to drop my genetics minor. Would this make a difference to medical schools? Like if I get accepted, would they take away my acceptance when they see that major and minor changed on the final transcript? (I still have all the prereqs and I... Help Senior! To apply or not apply? And if not, gap year advice?
Hi Guys! Please don't be scared by the long post, i've just thought long and hard and really need your feedback on what I should do next in my pre-med journey. So I am currently a senior entering my last semester as a cell & molecular biology major. Right now, I have a 3.4 cGPA and 3.1 scGPA so far with not much of a trend, but still have calculus and another biology class left this semester as well as a year of physics that I need to take over the summer. I have not taken the... Help Senior! To apply or not apply? And if not, gap year advice? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Homeless and part time student
Hey guys, I have a question(s). My freshman year wasn't really all that good. I was homeless and literally jumping from hotel to hotel. It's not that I didn't have money, it's that I didn't have anywhere to go. My credits took a hit between volunteering, school, and looking for new places to stay I'm finishing up my degree in biotechnology and molecular biology from Indiana university with these stats- 3.77 cGPA 3.6ish sGPA 508-510 practice MCAT URM- black and Puerto Rican. 100 hours... Is 18 Credits manageable?
This upcoming Semester I am taking Organic chem I/Lab, A&P I/Lab, Physics/Chemistry Research, cell molecular biology, and Calculus. I've been thinking of dropping the calculus and taking it at a later date. Is this doable? I also don't work besides working as a lab assistant once a week. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Building Up Valuable Experience? Too much? Too little? [Advice Needed]
Hello, I know this is long but I created this thread years before the application process so to continuously gain feedback on my pre-med profile. I am an undergraduate (semester 2) attending The Pennsylvania State University. During High School I did not care much for extracurricular activists. However, now I do. This is my current (and still in production) pre-med profile. School: The Pennsylvania State University, '20. Biochemistry and Molecular biology. HONORS PROGRAM.... Building Up Valuable Experience? Nursing School Maybe
Hi I am currently a pre med student at a private university. I have a 3.94 GPA and have taken all the pre med pre requistes except physics and organic chemistry 2. My first B plus was in organic but I had a super heavy course load and had to get a job since financial difficulties are weighing on me. This might have contributed to my lowered grade in organic. Even though I rank near the top of my institution as a molecular biology major I cannot afford my institution anymore. My local college... Nursing School Maybe (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UC Berkeley and increasing Opportunties to Medical School
Hi! I transferred from a community college with a 4.0 to UC Berkeley with a $8,000 scholarship (on top of financial aide). My major is Molecular Cell Biology and I just finished my first semester in upper division course work. My first semester GPA at Berkeley is a solid 4.0. And I wanted your advice to improve myself and enhance my chances at graduate school. I do not want to follow a formula but I want to be very competitive in finding great research Opportunties. I spoke with several... UC Berkeley and increasing Opportunties to Medical School (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Best book on molecular methods?
Medical student here, also pre-clinical researcher (PhD-student). Does anyone here have tips on methods commonly used in laboratory setting? I'm not trained in methods, I feel this makes me function less well in the lab. Sure, I could learn a bit from colleagues with more lab-friendly education (molecular biologists, engineers and other). I have never been teached about gene expression analysis, western blots, facs and so on. I feel stupid everytime I ask another person at the lab about... Best book on molecular methods? Do I have to take General Bio II? It's my senior year please give me advice
I am graduating in Spring 2017, and will be applying for 2018 Matriculation into MD schools. So far, I have taken General Biology I, Genetics and Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry. I had been allowed to skip General Biology II in order to take Genetics during the summer. I was wondering if it was really necessary to take General Biology II during my last semester of college? I have been looking at med school requirements, and a lot of them just say that you need 1 year of biology. Has... Do I have to take General Bio II? "Highly Recommended" Courses- Should I take them??
Hey guys, So I'm in a weird kink right now. I'm on the border of switching majors (Kinesiology to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) due to mixed info I'm getting at my school. I asked 1 of my science professors if I should take 'recommended' courses for medical schoool, like Biostatistics or Genetics, and he said no. I asked my faculy advisor the same question and he said yes because it's better for the MCAT and admission. So what's the answer? It's hard for me to understand how I would... Cell Biology on DAT?
I am currently trying to decide if I should take cell biology or not. There was a post about this but it was over 10 years ago. Talking to friends of mine who have taken the DAT they don't seem to think Cell Bio is necessary. I have taken Molecular and Microbiology, Physical and Developmental Biology, Genetics, and will soon be taking Biochem and Physiology (prior to taking the DAT).
