How does my Resume look? Any recommendations for things I'm missing?
Hi Everyone! Hopefully this is a good place to ask this question- I apologize if there's already a thread for these sorts of things, but I'm sort of new here and haven;t stumbled upon any such thread! Anyways! I'm potentially applying to Medical Schools next summer, and I wanted to get some input on how my potential application would look- especially with the EC's (are there any other things I should be sure to do?). Any input would be nice! Stats: Oregon Resident -University in the Northwest (Physiology Major; Chemistry/ Education Minors) -cGPA: 3.77; sGPA: 3.78 -MCAT: 33-34 (I haven't taken it yet; however this is w...

MD 4.0 gpa, 29 mcat md
I just received my mcat score today and it was a 8/12/9 - 29 (V/BS/PS). My previous score was a 7/10/9-26. I am a honors molecular biology and biotechnology major with a 4.0 GPA. Some of my extracurricular include: TA, shadowed a pathologist, publication, research for two years, worked at a doctors office for three years, chair at a research conference, presented 3 different papers, interviewer for incoming freshman ect. I live in MI, do I have a good change to get into any MD schools? (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

How to list research on resume?
Hey guys. I'm currently working on the CCOM secondary, which requires a resume. How do you guys think i should list my research experiences? I currently have listed semi-detailed abstracts of my projects, without detailing techniques and personal responsibilities. Is this a mistake? Heres an example of one entry: Undergraduate Research Intern Sept 2012 – Present, Gary, IN Student Doctor Network focus group (SDNfg) SDN University Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology SDN protei...

Dyslexia (&dycalculia), maths phobia and UCKAT QR
I will be sitting the UCKAT for the first time this year. I've started revision already, but am experiencing significant trauma with QR. A bit of a biography: I was diagnosed with dyslexia (and dyscalculia, which was not a separate diagnosis at the time) at the age of 21. By this time I had already been through my mathematics education at a very elitist state grammar school that really didn't have time for girls who struggled with anything (i.e. the kind of school that only ever rewarded high achievement and never effort or improvement). So I was left to assume I was thick, and to develop a rather potent hatred and fe...

Advice on which SMP to choose.. LMU-DCOM or USC-South Carolina
Hi everyone, I am looking at two different SMP's and wondering which would be the best for me, given my stats, to gain admission to a D.O/M.D. program starting Fall 2014. First I will present my stats and then the programs I am looking at. I'm 24 with a B.S. in Biology. My overall GPA is a 3.25 and my science GPA is a 3.11. I have done 350 hrs shadowing physicians with 2 LOR (one MD and one DO) and 150 hrs volunteering in the ED. I have yet to take the MCAT, but am scheduled for June 20th, and plan to take at least 2 more times this summer (july & august). I have been studying through Kaplan test prep for a month and r...

DO What Can I do to improve my chances
I am planning on applying for DO schools, but my stats are terrible. I graduated from high school in 2005 and spent the next couple years at one community college basically failing but staying in school for god knows what reason. I was ejected from this first community college and then started attending second CC across town. I decided to get my act together and started to take my coursework seriously. I eventually transferred to a UC school and earned a B.S. in Molecular Biology. So basically the snapshot of my three transcripts looks something like this: First Community College: Basic Keyboarding: F Music Theory: F Logi...

2013 PharmD Interview for Western Univ of Health Sciences
Hellow! I finally got an interview at Western U (seriously after about 4 or 5 years of trying). It'll be in exactly 10 days from now. I'm a bit nervous. I don't know what to expect. I read their prospective student/interviewee webpage as they suggested. It says that there will be 3 people in the panel and that the questions are behavioral-based as opposed to academic. One thing I'm iffy about is whether or not I should steer away from mentioning that I am married with four children. I feel like this will go against me because the interview is their chance to find a student that will fit their hectic curriculum. In those ye...

New schedule or new MCAT?
First off, should I even alter my schedule in order to avoid the new MCAT? Would schools view me differently when comparing me to those who decided to new MCAT? I don't want to be frowned upon if I decide to take the old (current) MCAT. If I were to alter my schedule, I have two options. Few things to note: I'm on the quarter system, there are three classes for each series, organic chemistry lectures must be taken with its corresponding lab, physics lectures can be taken separately from its corresponding lab, there are no labs for Organic Chemistry I and Physics I, and the organic chemistry/biology classes must be taken s...
