WAMC/School List Help
Hi everyone! I am looking to apply in the spring of 2025 for the 2025/26 admissions cycle. I finished my undergrad in 2.5 years so I currently have a BS in Biology and will finish my MS in Molecular & Cellular Biology in the spring of 2024. I am planning on taking a full gap year before applying so I am also seeking advice on additional ways to improve my application during that time. My school list is kind of a mess so I am looking for feedback on that as well. I have no preference for DO... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lab Course that doesn't have "lab" written anywhere in its name or description
Hi everyone, A bit of a neurotic question but oh well: Will it be an issue if the biology lab course (lab only) I'm using as a prerequisite doesn't have the word "lab" listed anywhere on the official transcript or description? The class in question is called "Recombinant DNA Techniques". Its description on the biology department website is written as such: "Theory and practice of recombinant DNA and molecular biology techniques. Includes CRISPR-Cas9 editing, DNA sequencing, PCR, and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Questions about transitioning to Optometry
Hello, I graduated with a bachelors in biomedical engineering but unfortunately I do not think I want to make a profession out of it. I was considering transitioning to optometry but I wanted to ask for your thoughts. I have taken 2 physics classes with lab, 1 molecular biology course with lab, 1 systems physiology with lab, 1 stats (tho for engineers), 3 calcs, 2 chem with lab, and orgo 1 with lab. I have a 3.32 GPA. Can I transition from BME to pre optometry with these course credits? Is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How do some applicants have so many publications?
Hi all, I've noticed, especially on some WAMCs, that some applicants have 2-3+ publications, oftentimes with first authorship in reputable journals. As a first year post-bac at the NIH working in a molecular biology lab, I've spent a good 6 months working on tasks that won't ultimately result in publication, and am lucky enough to now have my own project which my PI claims will eventually be publishable. From my knowledge, however, this will take at least one year and I currently don't even... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
