Habituation disorders in auditory middle latency response of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness patients
ConclusionPPPD patients showed lack of habituation (potentiation) of Na-Pa amplitude in AMLR to repetitive stimuli. Lack of habituation (potentiation) might be associated with sensory processing disorders in PPPD. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

The correlation of hearing prognosis and caloric test results in Meniere's disease: a follow up study
CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE: Elevated CP values may be linked to worse hearing outcomes in MD, especially in Stage 1 and 2 patients. Conducting a caloric test at the initial consultation may aid in assessing hearing regression in MD.PMID:38436675 | DOI:10.1080/00016489.2024.2324136 (Source: Acta Oto-Laryngologica)

Frequency of natural regulatory T cells specific for factor VIII in the peripheral blood of healthy donors
Eur J Immunol. 2024 Mar 1:e2350506. doi: 10.1002/eji.202350506. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTolerance to self-proteins involves multiple mechanisms, including conventional CD4+ T-cell (Tconv) deletion in the thymus and the recruitment of natural regulatory T cells (nTregs). The significant incidence of autoantibodies specific for the blood coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) in healthy donors illustrates that tolerance to self-proteins is not always complete. In contrast to FVIII-specific Tconvs, FVIII-specific nTregs have never been revealed and characterized. To determine the frequency of FVIII-specific Tregs in human peri...

Can head sway patterns differentiate between patients with Meniere ’s disease vs. peripheral vestibular hypofunction?
ConclusionWhile limited in numbers, Patients with MD had a high variability in head sway in all directions, and their average head sway was between controls and those with VH. A larger sample as well as patients with worse symptoms at time of testing could elucidate whether head sway via HMD could become a viable test in this population. A similar finding between 20- and 60-s scene and the full portability of the system with an in-clinic testing setup could help these future endeavors. Head sway derived from HMD is sensitive to VH and can be clinically useful as an outcome measure to evaluate sensory integration for postur...

Consensus Statements on the Definition, Classification, and Diagnostic Tests for Tinnitus: A Delphi Study Conducted by the Korean Tinnitus Study Group
CONCLUSION: We used a modified Delphi method to establish a consensus-based definition, a classification, and diagnostic tests for tinnitus. The expert panel reached agreement for several statements, with a high level of consensus. This may provide practical information for clinicians in managing tinnitus.PMID:38317449 | PMC:PMC10843967 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2024.39.e49 (Source: J Korean Med Sci)
