Genes, Vol. 15, Pages 22: Rare Deletions or Large Duplications Contribute to Genetic Variation in Patients with Severe Tinnitus and Meniere Disease
In this study, we analyzed exome sequencing data from 310 MD Spanish patients and selected 75 patients with severe tinnitus based on a Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) score > 68. Three rare deletions were identified in two unrelated individuals overlapping the ERBB3 gene in the positions: NC_000012.12:g.56100028_56100172del, NC_000012.12:g.56100243_56101058del, and NC_000012.12:g.56101359_56101526del. Moreover, an ultra-rare large duplication was found covering the AP4M1, COPS6, MCM7, TAF6, MIR106B, MIR25, and MIR93 genes in another two patients in the NC_000007.14:g.100089053_100112257dup region. All the codi...

Endolymphatic hydrops asymmetry distinguishes patients with Meniere ’s disease from normal controls with high sensitivity and specificity
ConclusionCompared to conventional semiquantitative grading or quantitative EH% analysis, EH asymmetry may better distinguish MD patients from normal controls. Quantitative hydrops volumetric analysis yields clinically relevant information on inner ear function. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

Trends in the incidence of peripheral vestibular disorders: a Nationwide population-based study
ConclusionThe incidence of peripheral vestibular disorders, overall, and the four major subgroups, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, Meniere’s disease, vestibular neuritis, and other peripheral vestibular dizziness, all decreased substantially, year by year within the 2010–2018 period. Redox Modulation of Meniere Disease by Coriolus Versicolor Treatment, a Nutritional Mushroom Approach with Neuroprotective Potential
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests MD as a model of cochlear neurodegenerative disease for the identification of potent inducers of the Nrf2-vitagene pathway, able to reduce the deleterious consequences associated with neurodegenerative damage, probably by indirectly acting on α-synuclein expression and on inflammatory processes NF- kB-mediated.PMID:38073105 | DOI:10.2174/1570159X22666231206153936 (Source: Current Neuropharmacology)
