Vestibular test results in patients with vestibular migraine and Meniere's Disease
CONCLUSION: In addition to hearing loss, low cVEMP amplitudes on the affected side with decreased gain on vHIT indicate disturbed saccular and lateral semicircular canal functions in MD patients differentiating them from VM. A functional deficit in gaze stabilization detected by fHIT is the only abnormality found in patients with VM.PMID:37267063 | DOI:10.1080/00016489.2023.2213723 (Source: Acta Oto-Laryngologica)

Types of Inheritance and Genes Associated with Familial Meniere Disease
AbstractMeniere disease (MD) is a rare disorder of the inner ear defined by sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) associated with episodes of vertigo and tinnitus. The phenotype is variable, and it may be associated with other comorbidities such as migraine, respiratory allergies, and several autoimmune disorders. The condition has a significant heritability according to epidemiological and familial segregation studies. Familial MD is found in 10% of cases, the most frequently found genes beingOTOG,MYO7A, andTECTA, previously associated with autosomal dominant and recessive non-syndromic SNHL. These findings suggest a new hypo...

Subjective visual horizontal correlates better with ocular than with cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potentials
CONCLUSIONS: SVH correlates better with oVEMP than cVEMP symmetry.SIGNIFICANCE: This finding reinforces the hypothesis of a common utricular origin for both SVH and oVEMPs which is distinct from the saccular origin of cVEMPs.PMID:37257318 | DOI:10.1016/j.clinph.2023.04.011 (Source: Clinical Neurophysiology)
