Emergence of Marburg virus: a global perspective on fatal outbreaks and clinical challenges
The Marburg virus (MV), identified in 1967, has caused deadly outbreaks worldwide, the mortality rate of Marburg virus disease (MVD) varies depending on the outbreak and virus strain, but the average case fatality rate is around 50%. However, case fatality rates have varied from 24 to 88% in past outbreaks depending on virus strain and case management. Designated a priority pathogen by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), MV induces hemorrhagic fever, organ failure, and coagulation issues in both humans and non-human primates. This review presents an extensive exploration of MVD outbreak evolu...

Design and development of new inhibitors against breast cancer, Monkeypox and Marburg virus by modification of natural Fisetin via in silico and SAR studies
Acta Biochim Pol. 2023 Sep 7. doi: 10.18388/abp.2020_6667. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe natural Fisetin and its derivatives have been shown to have effective bioactivity and strong pharmacological profile, which is continuously drawing the interest of therapeutic applications to the development of new biomolecules against Breast cancer and Monkeypox, and Marburg viral infection, while computational approaches and the study of their structure-activity relationship (SAR) are the most eloquent and reliable platform for performing their hypothetical profile renovation. So, the main perspective of this investigation is to ...

Ebola and Marburg Virus Infections in Resource-Rich Countries: Implications for Future Outbreaks
AbstractPurpose of ReviewEbolavirus and Marburgvirus are Filoviruses that cause an extremely virulent hemorrhagic fever syndrome. Most Ebolavirus (EVD) and Marburgvirus (MVD) disease outbreaks occurred in Africa, usually in remote, rural settings. The aim of this review is to compare collated data on EVD/MVD cases treated in resource-rich countries with data from local outbreak conditions.Recent FindingsA longitudinal view of EVD outbreaks suggest increased recognition of outbreaks the last 30 years , but a declining case fatality rate. This probably reflects improved diagnostics and better recognition of less severe cases...

First ‐ever Marburg virus disease outbreak in Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania: An imminent crisis in West and East Africa
The Marburg virus causes the severe infectious disease known as Marburg Virus Disease (MVD). Previously, different outbreaks of MVD have appeared in different African countries. For the first time, Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania are experiencing MVD outbreaks. In affected regions of Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania, surveillance and detection efforts, including contact tracing and active case finding, are recommended. AbstractThe Marburg virus, which is a member of the same virus family as the Ebola virus called Filoviridae, causes the severe infectious disease known as Marburg virus disease (MVD). Previously, different outb...
