Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2147: Synthesis and Sensing Response of Magnesium Antimoniate Oxide (MgSb2O6) in the Presence of Propane Atmospheres at Different Operating Voltages
nilla Nanoparticles of MgSb2O6 were synthesized using a microwave-assisted wet chemistry method, followed by calcination at 700 °C. Their ability to detect different concentrations of propane gas (C3H8) at various operating voltages was evaluated. The material’s crystalline phase was identified using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), finding bar- and polyhedron-type geometries. Through transmission electron microscopy (TEM), we found particle sizes of 8.87–99.85 nm with an average of ~27.63 nm. Employing ultraviolet...

Story of magnesium for torsade de pointes
Torsade de pointes (TdP) was not a rare arrhythmia in Israel during the 1970s –1980s as many patients, mainly with atrial fibrillation (AF), were treated with QT-prolonging antiarrhythmic drugs. We published several articles on the use of cardiac pacing and intravenous (IV) isoproterenol in patients who developed TdP from quinidine, disopyramide, or amiodarone. Our experien ce was published in 1981 in Circulation.1 (Source: Heart Rhythm)

Comparison of the Efficacy of Oral Magnesium with Oral Ketorolac for Postoperative Pain Management in Anorectal Surgery: A Double-blinded Randomized Clinical Trial
CONCLUSION: Taking magnesium tablets after surgery has a suitable analgesic effect, which is similar to oral ketorolac tablets from the fifth day onwards, but in the initial days, it is less effective than ketorolac statistically.PMID:38523517 | DOI:10.2174/0115748871290318240218195517 (Source: Reviews on Recent Clinical Trials)

Synthesis and biological activity of thiophene bioisosteres of natural styryl lactone goniofufurone and related compounds
Eur J Med Chem. 2024 Mar 21;269:116340. doi: 10.1016/j.ejmech.2024.116340. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTen new thiophene derivatives related to goniofufurone have been obtained by multistep synthesis starting from d-glucose. The critical step of the synthesis was the Grignard reaction of 2-thienyl magnesium bromide with a protected dialdose, yielding the C-5 epimeric thiophene derivatives 9 and 10. The mixture was oxidized to the 5-keto derivative 11, which after deprotection was converted to the corresponding keto-lactone 14. Stereoselective reduction of 14 afforded the thiophene mimic of goniofufurone 3. Esterification...

Prevalence of Micronutrient Deficiencies in Preoperative Bariatric Patients in a New Zealand Tertiary Centre
ConclusionVitamin D and iron are the most common micronutrient deficiencies among preoperative bariatric patients in this cohort and ethnic differences were seen. There may be a role for preoperative supplementation in these at-risk ethnic groups.Graphical abstract (Source: Obesity Surgery)

A facile electrochemical immunosensor based on EDTA-Pb < sup > 2+ < /sup > complexation reaction
Talanta. 2024 Mar 19;273:125957. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125957. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe sensitivity of electrochemical (EC) sensors has been improved through the development of multiple approaches. However, the majority of EC sensors were limited in their practical application by high costs or tedious procedures. Herein, based on ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-Pb2+ complexation reaction, a facile and affordable immunosensor was designed. Pb2+-magnesium silicate hydrate was served as the sensing substrate. The immunorecognition process was carried out in the Eppendorf tube, and antibody-functionalized...
