Story of magnesium for torsade de pointes
Torsade de pointes (TdP) was not a rare arrhythmia in Israel during the 1970s –1980s as many patients, mainly with atrial fibrillation (AF), were treated with QT-prolonging antiarrhythmic drugs. We published several articles on the use of cardiac pacing and intravenous (IV) isoproterenol in patients who developed TdP from quinidine, disopyramide, or amiodarone. Our experien ce was published in 1981 in Circulation.1
