Effects of photobiomodulation on pain, lactate and muscle performance (ROM, torque, and EMG parameters) of paretic upper limb in patients with post-stroke spastic hemiparesis —a randomized controlled clinical trial
In conclusion, Photobiomodulation (PBM) demonstrated significant improvements in muscle performance, reducing fatigue and pain levels, and enhancing range of motion in post-st roke patients with spastic hemiparesis. These findings support the potential integration of PBM into rehabilitation protocols, but further research and clinical trials are needed to validate and expand upon these promising outcomes. Comparison of two protocols of diode laser transscleral cyclophotocoagulation in refractory glaucoma
DISCUSSION: At the 3rd postoperative month, safety and efficacy was similar in the two techniques. The relative ease of the slow-burn technique may make its application more appealing to ophthalmic surgeons beyond glaucoma specialists.PMID:38450608 | DOI:10.1177/11206721221127767 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

The changing landscape of palliative epilepsy surgery for Lennox Gastaut Syndrome
Lennox Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) is characterized by drug-resistant epilepsy that typically leads to decreased quality of life and deleterious neurodevelopmental comorbidities from medically refractory seizures. In recent years there has been a dramatic increase in the development and availability of novel treatment strategies for Lennox Gastaut Syndrome patient to improve seizure. Recent advances in neuromodulation and minimally invasive magnetic resonance guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (MRgLITT) have paved the way for new treatments strategies including deep brain stimulation (DBS), responsive neurostimulation (R...

Osteoblastic differentiation and changes in the redox state in pulp stem cells by laser treatment
In conclusion, photobiomodulation (PBM) with LLLT induced morphological changes and reduced cell proliferation rate, which was associated with osteoblastic differentiation and increased ROS a nd Δψm, independent of wavelength and time. (Source: Lasers in Medical Science)

Photobiomodulation preconditioned diabetic adipose derived stem cells with additional photobiomodulation: an additive approach for enhanced wound healing in diabetic rats with a delayed healing wound
AbstractIn this preclinical investigation, we examined the effects of combining preconditioned diabetic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) and photobiomodulation (PBM) on a model of infected ischemic delayed healing wound (injury), (IIDHWM) in rats with type I diabetes (TIDM). During the stages of wound healing, we examined multiple elements such as stereology, macrophage polarization, and the mRNA expression levels of stromal cell-derived factor (SDF)-1 α, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hypoxia-induced factor 1α (HIF-1α), and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) to evaluate proliferation and ...

Median lingual hair heterotopia associated with pyogranulomatous glossitis in a Labrador retriever: Surgical treatment using carbon-dioxide laser
Can Vet J. 2024 Mar;65(3):213-219.ABSTRACTA 9-year-old male Labrador retriever dog was presented with dysphagia and presence of hairs on the tongue. Buccal examination revealed ulcerative glossitis and lingual hairs along the midline. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging of the tongue showed multiple hair shafts contained in a proliferative tissue along the midline and extending in a fistulous tract towards the right ventral aspect of the tongue at mid-length. Surgical excision was completed using a carbon-dioxide laser. Histopathological examination revealed a pyogranulomatous inflammation centered on growing hairs, ...

Risk stratification for donor twin fetal death by evaluating middle cerebral artery in twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome in absence of twin anemia polycythemia sequence
CONCLUSIONS: Elevated donor MCA-PSV without TAPS prior to laser surgery is associated with a 4-fold increased risk for donor fetal demise, adjusted for sFGR, TTTS stage, and other confounders. Doppler evaluation of donor MCA-PSV prior to laser surgery can further stratify TTTS staging to evaluate the risk for donor fetal demise. This article is protected by copyright.
