Negative MRI and a seizure onset zone close to eloquent areas in FCD type II: Application of MRg-LiTT after a SEEG re-evaluation in pediatric patients with a previous failed surgery
CONCLUSIONS: The combined use of SEEG and MRg-LiTT in complex cases can lead to good outcomes both as a rescue therapy after failed surgery, but also as an alternative to open surgery after a successful SEEG-guided Radiofrequency Thermocoagulation (RF-TC). Specific SEEG patterns and a previous good outcome from RF-TC can be predictors of a favourable outcome.PMID:38401416 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2024.109694 (Source: Epilepsy and Behaviour)

Impact of cannula diameter on pregnancy outcomes after minimally invasive fetal laser surgery in the treatment of twin ‐to‐twin transfusion syndrome: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsThis systematic review confirmed PPROM as a frequent complication of fetal laser surgery, with a mean PPROM rate of 22.9%. A larger cannula diameter relates to a significant higher PPROM risk for PPROM before 34  weeks gestation. Hence, the ideal balance between optimal visualization requiring larger port diameters and shorter operation time and more complete procedures that benefit from larger diameters is crucial to reduce iatrogenic PPROM rates. Correlation Between the Effects of CO2 Laser and Histopathological Analysis in Vocal Cord Lesions: An Observational Study
In this study, we enrolled 80 patients who were divided into 4 groups with different combinations of laser power and mode, used during transoral laser micro laryngeal surgery for the excision of vocal cord lesions and subsequent histopathological analysis to objectively measure the extent of thermal damage zone and subjectively assess histo-morphological effects of thermal damage in terms of grade of carbonization. The extent of the thermal damage zone is directly related to the power of the laser, but the mode of the laser had no relation with the thermal damage zone in our study. On subjective histo-morphological examina...

Comparison of the 1064-nm picosecond laser with fractionated microlens array and 1565-nm non-ablative fractional laser for the treatment of enlarged pores: a randomized, split-face, controlled trial
ConclusionBoth the 1064-nm picosecond laser with MLA and the 1565-nm nonablative fractional laser are viable options for treating enlarged pores, and showed comparable respective efficacies; however, the former was less likely to cause hyperpigmentation and was better tolerated. Primary subglottic inverted papilloma: An exceptional localization
We present a case of primary laryngeal inverted papilloma with an unusual subglottic localization. An 84-year-old female patient presented with dyspnea on exertion. In the endoscopic examination, a subglottic vegetative lesion was observed. Radiological examination revealed a well-circumscribed, solid mass involving the anterior commissure and extending to the subglottic region. Total excision of the mass was performed with the CO2 laser surgery. Histopathologic examination revealed endophytic growth of round-oval nests of transitional hyperplastic epithelium. The patient was diagnosed with primary laryngeal inverted papil...

Early intervention of carbon dioxide fractional laser in hypertrophic scar through TGF β-1/ Smad3 signaling pathway
AbstractHypertrophic scars are usually the result of surgical trauma or burn, and more common in individuals with a darker skin color. They appear as red and raised lesions around the wound that continually expand over a period of weeks or months, causing itching, pain, burning sensation and discomfort. Severe scarring affects interpersonal and social relationships, and decreases the quality of life of the patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of carbon dioxide fractional laser as an early intervention against hypertrophic scars using a rabbit ear scar model, and explore the role of the TGF β-1/ Smad3 s...

Fluorescent microscopy evaluation of diode laser effect on the penetration depth of turmeric (Curcuma longa) extract cream on skin tissues of Wistar rats
AbstractThe study investigates the effect of diode laser exposure on curcumin ’s skin penetration, using turmeric extraction as a light-sensitive chemical and various laser light sources. It uses an in vivo skin analysis method on Wistar strain mice. The lasers are utilized at wavelengths of 403 nm, 523 nm, 661 nm, and 979 nm. The energy densities of the lasers are 20.5 66 J/cm2, 20.572  J/cm2, 21.162  J/cm2, and 21.298  J/cm2, which are comparable to one another. The experimental animals were divided into three groups: base cream (BC), turmeric extract cream (TEC), and the combination laser (L), BC, and TEC trea...
