Evaluation of the learning curve for Thulium laser enucleation of the prostate in a contemporary cohort
ConclusionsIn our single-surgeon experience, we observed a learning curve of nearly 60 cases for the ThuLEP procedure in presence of a well-trained surgeon. Complication rate was low from the beginning of surgical experience. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Deep learning automatically assesses 2- µm laser-induced skin damage OCT images
AbstractThe present study proposed a noninvasive, automated, in vivo assessment method based on optical coherence tomography (OCT) and deep learning techniques to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the biological effects of 2- µm laser-induced skin damage at different irradiation doses. Different doses of 2-µm laser irradiation established a mouse skin damage model, after which the skin-damaged tissues were imaged non-invasively in vivo using OCT. The acquired images were preprocessed to construct the dataset required f or deep learning. The deep learning models used were U-Net, DeepLabV3+, PSP-Net, and HR-Net, and...

Lasers in the management of alopecia: a review of established therapies and advances in treatment
AbstractAlopecia, also known as hair loss, is a highly prevalent condition affecting millions of men and women in the United States and worldwide, making it one of the most common complaints by patients presenting to a dermatologist. The symptomology on the presentation of alopecia can be highly variable, ranging from diffuse thinning of hair, discrete and localized patches completely absent of hair, or noticing significant shedding when brushing and showering. Although alopecia does not have a direct negative health impact on patients, it is nonetheless a debilitating disease as it can profoundly impact an individual ’s...

The effect of high-intensity laser therapy on pain and lower extremity function in patellofemoral pain syndrome: a single-blind randomized controlled trial
This study indicated that high-intensity laser therapy was found to be a more effective method in the treatment of patellofemoral pain syndrome after 3 months of follow-up compared to US-TENS combination and US-interferential current combination treatments. Also, HILT can be used as an effective method in combination with an appropriate exercise program including vastus medialis strengthening to reduce pain and increase functionality in the patients with PFPS. Enhancement of skin rejuvenation and hair growth through novel near-infrared light emitting diode (nNIR) lighting: in vitro and in vivo study
In conclusion, the study highlighted positive effects of White and nNIR irradiation on skin and hair growth. However, nNIR exhibited superior outcomes compared to White. Its advancements in ATP content, collagen synthesis, collagenase inhibition, and hair growth promotion imply increased ATP synthesis activity. These findings underscore nNIR therapy ’s potential as an innovative and effective approach for enhancing skin and promoting hair growth. (Source: Lasers in Medical Science)
