Combination Administration of Heparin and Nitroglycerin for the Treatment of Polycaprolactone-Induced Intravascular Embolism: A Preclinical Investigation
ConclusionsThe combination of heparin and nitroglycerin effectively restores blood flow reperfusion in the intravascular embolization caused by PCL filler injection, alleviates local tissue edema and flap necrosis. These findings offer a novel approach for future clinical management of intravascular embolization with PCL-containing filler injection. No Level AssignedThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each submission to which Evidence-Based Medicine rankings are applicable. This excludes Review Articles, Book Reviews, and manuscripts that concern Basic Science, Animal Studies, Cadaver Studies, a...

Incidence and analysis of intraoperative complications in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery: a large-scale cohort study to establish the learning curve
CONCLUSIONS: The intraoperative complications of FLACS were reported, and the learning curve is associated with a significant reduction in the incidence of intraoperative complications. The length of the basic learning curve of FLACS is 100 cases, and the length of the advanced learning curve was 150 cases. This study demonstrated that FLACS is characterised by a relatively straightforward and secure operative technique.PMID:38589209 | DOI:10.1136/bjo-2023-323897 (Source: The British Journal of Ophthalmology)

An analysis of benign prostatic hyperplasia surgical treatment reimbursement trends across Canada: Examining provincial changes over the recent decade with comparison to cost of living changes
CONCLUSIONS: The compensation model for endoscopic BPH surgery does not have a unified structure in Canada that is consistent across provinces, nor does it keep up with inflation, possibly impacting future recruitment, increasing geographic disparities, and most importantly, limiting the adoption of new BPH therapies.PMID:38587981 | DOI:10.5489/cuaj.8638 (Source: Canadian Urological Association Journal)

Root surface roughness evaluation following application of different periodontal instruments and Er:YAG laser: A profilometry and SEM study
ConclusionResults of the study showed that the use of new generation ultrasonic tip was associated with smoother surface morphology compared to 30 °-angled Er-YAG laser tip and conventional curette. Further in vitro and in vivo studies with an increased sample size are necessary to support the present study findings. (Source: Lasers in Medical Science)
