Characterization of the Hippocampal Neuroimmune Response to Binge-Like Ethanol Consumption in the Drinking in the Dark Model
Conclusions: Altogether, these findings suggest that binge-like ethanol drinking prior to dependence causes dysregulation to the neuroimmune system. This altered neuroimmune state may have an impact on behavior but could also result in a heightened neuroimmune response that is exacerbated from further ethanol exposure or other immune-modulating events.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Lycopene on Experimental Spinal Cord Ischemia Injury via Cyclooxygenase-2 Suppression
Conclusion: Lycopene exerted neuroprotective functions in SCII and inhibited SCII-elicited neuroinflammation via COX-2 suppression.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

Zika Virus as a Possible Risk Factor for Autism Spectrum Disorder: Neuroimmunological Aspects
The recent outbreak of the Zika virus (ZIKV) and the discovery that perinatal Zika exposure can lead to the Congenital Zika Syndrome has promoted a call for prevention measures. Due to the increased number of babies born with microcephaly, structural brain abnormalities, and neurological alterations in regions affected by ZIKV, investigations were carried out in order to better understand this process. The maternal immune system directly influences the fetal central nervous system, and complications during pregnancy have been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a neurodevelopmental...

A Promising New Approach for the Treatment of Inflammatory Pain: Transfer of Stem Cell-Derived Tyrosine Hydroxylase-Positive Cells
Conclusions: The transfer of iTH+ cells may cause a long-lasting reduction of arthritis-induced pain even if it does not ameliorate inflammation. The invasion of M2 macrophages into the dorsal root ganglia is likely to be an important mechanism of antinociception.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

Cytokines and Tissue Damage Biomarkers in First-Onset Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders: Significance of Interleukin-6
Conclusions: IL-6 plays a role in the pathogenetic process of NMOSD, especially in the AQP4-IgG-positive subtype. Distinct pathogenesis exists between AQP4-IgG-positive and AQP4-IgG-negative NMOSD in the initial phase of the disease.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

Neuroimmune and Inflammatory Signals in Complex Disorders of the Central Nervous System
An extensive microglial-astrocyte-monocyte-neuronal cross talk seems to be crucial for normal brain function, development, and recovery. However, under certain conditions neuroinflammatory interactions between brain cells and neuroimmune cells influence disease outcome and brain pathology. Microglial cells express a range of functional states with dynamically pleomorphic profiles from a surveilling status of synaptic transmission to an active player in major events of development such as synaptic elimination, regeneration, and repair. Also, inflammation mediates a series of neurotoxic roles in neuropsychiatric conditions a...

Serum Bilirubin and Albumin in Anti- < b > < i > N < /i > < /b > -Methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor Encephalitis
Conclusions: Our results revealed for the first time an association between the serum levels of bilirubin in the anti-NMDAR encephalitis. Further studies investigating the role of bilirubin and albumin in anti-NMDAR encephalitis are required.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

CXCL12 and CXCR4 in the Peripheral Blood of Patients with Parkinson ’s Disease
Conclusions: Our findings provide new information on the expression of CXCL12/CXCR4 in PD. CXCR4 expression in PBMC or CXCL12 serum levels may be potential biomarkers of inflammation in PD patients.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

A Rodent Model of Anxiety: The Effect of Perinatal Immune Challenges on Gastrointestinal Inflammation and Integrity
Conclusion: These results indicate that the MIA rat model, which is well documented to produce behavioural, neurochemical, and neuroanatomical abnormalities, also produces GI inflammation and integrity disruptions. We suggest that this model may be a useful tool to elucidate biological pathways associated with neuropsychiatric disorders.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

Differential Peripheral Inflammatory Factors Associated with Cognitive Function in Patients with Heart Failure
Conclusions: In this cohort with HF, vascular inflammation appears related to poorer cognitive function. This could indicate targets for treatment to reduce cognitive deficits in HF. However, this is a preliminary study, and further research is needed.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)

Human Microglial Cells Undergo Proapoptotic Induction and Inflammatory Activation upon in vitro Exposure to a Naturally Occurring Level of Aflatoxin B < sub > 1 < /sub >
Conclusion: Our work confirmed that the environmentally relevant level of AFB1 could cause an inflammatory reaction in human microglial cells that is potentially harmful or toxic to the homeostasis of the human central nervous system and might increase susceptibility to neurodegenerative diseases.Neuroimmunomodulation (Source: Neuroimmunomodulation)
