Prognostic value of cranial radiotherapy and optimal timing stratified by lung-molGPA for NSCLC patients with brain metastases
ConclusionUpfront CRT could bring significantly overall survival benefit for these patients with lung-molGPA2.5 –4 but not for patients with lung-molGPA0–2. (Source: Journal of Neuro-Oncology)

Long-term neurocognitive function and quality of life after multimodal therapy in adult glioma patients: a prospective long-term follow-up
ConclusionsMultimodal glioma therapy seems to affect neurocognition less than generally assumed. Even patients with unilateral hippocampal irradiation with  >  50 Gy showed no profound cognitive decline in this series. (Source: Journal of Neuro-Oncology)

Patterns of treatment and outcomes of patients with brain-only metastatic breast cancer
ConclusionPatients with brain-only MBC had a longer bsPFS and OS than those with ECM. Patients with HER2+  and TNBC were more likely to have brain-only disease compared to those with HR+/HER2- MBC. (Source: Journal of Neuro-Oncology)

Frailty and postoperative outcomes in brain tumor patients: a systematic review subdivided by tumor etiology
ConclusionOur review identified several patterns of overall postsurgical outcomes reporting for patients with brain tumors and frailty. To date, reviews of frailty in patients with brain tumors have been largely limited to certain frailty indices, analyzing all patients together regardless of lesion etiology. Although this technique is beneficial in providing a general overview of frailty ’s use for brain tumor patients, given each tumor pathology has its own unique etiology, this combined approach potentially neglects key nuances governing frailty’s use and prognostic value. The evolving role of reirradiation in the management of recurrent brain tumors
AbstractDespite aggressive management consisting of surgery, radiation therapy (RT), and systemic therapy given alone or in combination, a significant proportion of patients with brain tumors will experience tumor recurrence. For these patients, no standard of care exists and management of either primary or metastatic recurrent tumors remains challenging.Advances in imaging and RT technology have enabled more precise tumor localization and dose delivery, leading to a reduction in the volume of health brain tissue exposed to high radiation doses. Radiation techniques have evolved from three-dimensional (3-D) conformal RT to...

Long-term follow up of patients with WHO grade 2 oligodendroglioma
ConclusionIndividuals with molecularly defined oligodendrogliomas demonstrate long survival, also in a population-based setting. This is important to consider for optimal timing of therapies that may cause long-term side effects. Advanced age, large tumors and poor function before surgery are predictors of shorter survival.Graphical Abstract (Source: Journal of Neuro-Oncology)

Immuno markers in newly diagnosed glioblastoma patients underwent Stupp protocol after neurosurgery: a retrospective series
ConclusionsThus, we underscored a role of SII as predictive value of response to STUPP protocol. Regarding the TME-related markers, we suggested to take into consideration for future studies with new immunotherapy combinations, each component relating to expression of immune infiltrating subsets. Supramaximal versus gross total resection in Glioblastoma, IDH wild-type and Astrocytoma, IDH-mutant, grade 4, effect on overall and progression free survival: systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionGlioblastoma, IDH wild-type and Astrocytoma, IDH-mutant, grade 4, are aggressive tumors with a very short long-term OS. SMR is an effective therapeutic approach contributing to increased PFS and OS in patients with this catastrophic disease. (Source: Journal of Neuro-Oncology)
