Obstacles to Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Hidradenitis Suppurativa: Current Perspectives on Improving Clinical Management
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2023 Jul 17;16:1833-1841. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S301794. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTHidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that can progress to significant tunnels and scars that affect quality of life, especially if diagnosis and treatment are delayed. Average delay after initial presentation of HS symptoms can range from 3 to 10 years in adults and 1 to 2 years in children. Factors associated with diagnostic delay include female gender, non-white race, and greater disease severity at diagnosis. Contributing factors include misdiagnoses, difficulty accessing a derma...

Efficacy of Electroacupuncture with Sparse-Dense-Wave on Patients Suffered Acute Facial Paralysis
CONCLUSION: EA intervention with sparse-dense wave form is effective for patients with acute facial paralysis, in that it effectively reduced the occurrence of facial spasm and promoted the improvement of edema and repair of nerve injury.PMID:37483469 | PMC:PMC10361404 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S405569 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Long Non-Coding RNA ZSCAN16-AS1 Promotes the Malignant Progression of Melanoma Through Regulating the miR-503-5p/ARL2 Axis
CONCLUSION: These results demonstrated the role and molecular mechanism of ZSCAN16-AS1 in the occurrence and development of melanoma. Therefore, ZSCAN16-AS1 may be used as a specific biomarker in the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma patients.PMID:37483470 | PMC:PMC10361287 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S407323 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Physiological and Psychological Effects of Isotretinoin in the Treatment of Patients with Acne: A Narrative Review
This article reviews the side effects of ISO from physiological and psychological aspects in detail, to better screen the suitable population of ISO and improve the efficiency of clinical treatment. Our findings indicate that ISO may cause teratogenicity, skin reactions, ocular reactions, changes in blood indicators, and occasional acne fulminans. To optimize clinical treatment, more attention should be paid to identifying the specific conditions under which these reactions occur, how severe they are, and how they subside to alleviate patient concerns. Regarding the controversial issue of psychological side effects caused ...

A Case of Coma Bullae Associated with Brachioradial Artery
We present the first case of coma bullae observed in a 67-year-old woman due to pressure and ischemia associated with brachioradial artery. A skin biopsy taken from the ulcer border revealed extensive loss of the epidermis, fibrosis of dermis, mild infiltration by lymphocytes and neutrophils, and necrosis of the focal eccrine ducts. CT angiography of the right upper limb showed a high origin of the radial artery, meanwhile both high originating radial artery and the anastomoses were tortuous and were of relatively small caliber. The diagnosis of coma bullae was made. After tissue debridement, the skin lesions gradually rec...

Granular Parakeratosis of the Eccrine Ostium: A Case Report
In this report, we present the case of a 64-year-old Thai female who presented with recurrent pruritic erythematous rashes on her neck since approximately 40 years. She was previously diagnosed with eczema or folliculitis. Histopathological examination confirmed a final diagnosis of GP of the eccrine ostium. She was advised to avoid excessive heat and keep her intertriginous areas dry. Her condition improved significantly during the follow-up visit.PMID:37469551 | PMC:PMC10352123 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S421152 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)
