Lupus Erythematosus Profundus with Multiple Overlying Cutaneous Ulcerations: A Rare Case
We present a case report of LEP with multiple cutaneous ulcers on the right cheek and scalp accompanied by cicatricial alopecia. No other systemic manifestations were noted. Histopathological examination revealed periadipocyte, perivascular, and perivascular infiltration of lymphocytes, eosinophils, and plasma cells, supporting the diagnosis of LEP. The topical treatments given to the patient were sunscreen, 2% mupirocin cream, and wound dressing with dialkyl carbamoyl chloride (DACC). The patient was also treated systemically with oral corticosteroids and hydroxychloroquine. Clinical improvements were observed in the 3rd ...

Surgical Treatment for Benign Lymphangioendothelioma After Two Incomplete Excisions: A Case Report and Literature Review
We report a case of an atypical BL that arose as a tender, protuberant, flesh-colored mass with cyanotic vesicles, and then progressed to a persistent exudative wound after two incomplete excisions. The patient was also diagnosed with thoracic duct narrowing. Although the stenosis was removed by surgery, the right lower extremity ulceration and exudation did not improve. Thus, we performed a thorough excision and split-thickness skin graft transplant following vacuum sealing drainage, and eventually the patient had a favorable functional and cosmetic outcome. A biopsy revealed irregular, dilated vascular spaces lined with ...

The Use of Hemispheric Directional Reflectance Method to Verify the Usefulness of Filters Protecting the Skin Against Infrared Radiation
DISCUSSION: The results indicate that the selected products show radiation protection against IR radiation only after several dozen minutes of application, which may suggest that they must penetrate deeper skin layers to be effective. Hemispheric directional reflectance turned out to be an effective method allows to assess the effectiveness of protective properties of cosmetics.PMID:37790905 | PMC:PMC10543075 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S423667 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Assessment of Occipital Involvement Among a Large Population of Females with Pattern Hair Loss in Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSION: One-third of females in our study with FPHL had occipital involvement. This has a major impact on the methods used to diagnose pattern hair loss in females and their treatment plan including hair restoration surgery.PMID:37790906 | PMC:PMC10544099 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S422283 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Effectiveness of Brodalumab in Patients with Moderate-to-Severe Plaque Psoriasis Located in Difficult-to-Treat Areas
CONCLUSION: Our real-life experience suggests brodalumab as a valuable option for the management of psoriasis located in difficult-to-treat areas. Moreover, our study highlights that the use of brodalumab reduces the plasmatic levels of inflammatory biomarkers (MMP-3, VEGF-A and hs-PCR), showing how the drug modulates the skin inflammatory response by reducing systemic inflammation.PMID:37780688 | PMC:PMC10541085 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S423234 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Combining Diamond-Tip Dermabrasion Treatments and Topical Skincare in Participants with Dry, Hyperpigmented, Photodamaged or Acne-Prone/Oily Facial Skin: A Clinical Usage Study
CONCLUSION: The combination of DG and DGR showed significant immediate and long-term improvements in skin appearance. These results show that the DG and DGR combination is a well-tolerated and effective intervention to enhance different aspects of facial skin quality.PMID:37780689 | PMC:PMC10540789 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S423688 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

A Case of Tuberculosis Cutis Orificialis
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2023 Sep 25;16:2659-2661. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S428884. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThis work reports a case of a 49-year-old male suffering from chronic tuberculosis who developed painful ulcers around the anus for approximately eight months. The colonoscopy revealed the presence of ulcers in the transverse colon, which were also found in the skin and intestine, as revealed by microscopic examination. The skin ulcer was positive for tuberculosis bacilli, leading to the final diagnosis of Tuberculosis cutis orificialis. The patient had a previous history of tuberculosis, which indicated that the in...
