Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Associated Systemic Sclerosis in the Treatment of a Small Cell Lung Cancer Patient with Durvalumab: A Case Report
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2024 Mar 18;17:663-669. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S451386. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTAs one of the key cancer treatment measures, immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized the treatment landscape of various cancers, including malignancies previously thought to be untreatable. Immune checkpoint inhibitors work by targeting the dysfunctional immune system, to enhance cancer-cell killing by CD8-positive T cells. Despite the beneficial effects of ICIs, these treatments are also linked to a novel class of side effects, termed immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Immune-related adverse event...

< em > KIT < /em > Mutation Associated with Depigmented Patches Regression and Multiple Caf é-au-lait Macules Development in a Patient with Piebaldism: A Case Report
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2024 Mar 20;17:713-716. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S449691. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTPiebaldism is a rare genetic disorder caused by KIT mutations and clinically characterized by fixed depigmented patches throughout the body. Herein, a case of piebaldism in which the depigmented patches regressed as the patient grew older, along with the development of multiple café-au-lait macules, is described. The likely pathogenic, heterozygous KIT c.1991-2A>G variant was detected as the potential cause of this unusual piebaldism phenotype. This case provides new knowledge on genotype-phenotype correlation of ...

Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes Promote the Proliferation and Melanogenesis of Primary Melanocytes by Attenuating the H < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 2 < /sub > -Related Cytotoxicity in vitro
CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that treatment with a low dose of MSC-Exo promotes the proliferation and melanogenesis of human primary melanocytes by ameliorating the H2O2-induced apoptosis and senescence of melanocytes. MSC-Exo may be a promising therapeutic strategy of vitiligo.PMID:38524392 | PMC:PMC10959324 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S446676 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

A Case of Vitiligo Combined with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Treated with Tofacitinib
This report presents a unique case of a vitiligo patient with concomitant systemic lupus erythematosus. Remarkably, after a 30-day course of treatment with tofacitinib, complete repigmentation of the white macular rash was achieved, and there were no adverse drug reactions. These findings provide compelling evidence for the efficacy and safety of oral JAK inhibitors, such as tofacitinib, in vitiligo treatment. Additionally, JAK inhibitors can yet be regarded as a promising new treatment option for vitiligo patients with concurrent autoimmune diseases.PMID:38524393 | PMC:PMC10961069 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S448535 (Source: Clini...

Cutaneous < em > Mycobacterium Abscessus < /em > Infection Following Plastic Surgery: Three Case Reports
CONCLUSION: It is important to note that a long-term wound that does not heal, especially after plastic surgery, should raise suspicion for M. abscessus infection. The infection mechanism in these three patients may have been due to exposure to surgical equipment that was not properly sterilized or due to poor sterile technique by the plastic surgeon. To prevent such infections, it is important to ensure proper sterilization of surgical equipment and saline.PMID:38505806 | PMC:PMC10949168 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S445175 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Dermoscopy and Histopathology of Hyperkeratosis of Nipple and Areola: A Case Report
We describe a case involving a 19-year-old female with who presented with bilateral nipple-areola brown patches persisting for five years. The diagnosis of hyperkeratosis of the nipple and areola (HNA) was established through dermoscopy and histopathology. The findings highlight the value of dermoscopy in the diagnosis and differentiation of HNA.PMID:38505807 | PMC:PMC10950083 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S450400 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

The Anatomical Layering Assessment: The Construction of Beauty
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2024 Mar 13;17:605-620. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S447865. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTRestructuring an aging face from bone structure to the surface of the skin can be metaphorically compared to building and renovating a house. While each anatomical layer of the face undergoes an aging process of its own, there is also an interdependency of superficial structures on deeper layers, so that a change in one layer may lead to changes to the adjacent layers. This interaction among the structures deep into the skin, along with the skin's ability to envelope them is what determine the aspect of the aging face...
