Validation canadienne-française de l’inventaire des dispositions des destinataires à l’endroit d’un changement organisationnel (IDDCO).
This study presents a French version, the Inventaire des dispositions des destinataires à l’égard d’un changement organisationnel (IDDCO), and its psychometric qualities. First translated into French, this version was administered in four different change contexts (i.e., new technology, process modernization, culture change, merger). It presents satisfactory indices in terms of its factor structure, the internal consistency of its factors, and the relationships between them. The results also show the existence of theoretically consistent correlational patterns between the French version of the instrument and three re...

Le biais d’attribution d’intention hostile et les traits de la personnalité limite : Une étude de potentiel relié aux évènements.
This study investigates the cognitive processes underlying reactive aggressive behaviour in a population with borderline personality disorder (BPD) traits, but not necessarily with a BPD diagnosis. Previous research has shown an association between the hostile intent attribution bias (HIB) and aggressive behaviour, but this relationship has not yet been examined in a population with BPD traits. To achieve our goal, we conducted a methodological replication of Gagnon et al.’s (2016) study proposing an event-related potential (ERP) method for assessing BAIH. The hostile expectation violation task used elicits an N400 compo...

Evaluation des processus impliqués dans l’autonomie cognitive chez des patients cérébrolésés atteints de pathologies dégénératives ou de lésions acquises non-évolutives.
Canadian Journal of Behavioural Science / Revue canadienne des sciences du comportement, Vol 54(4), Oct 2022, 315-321; doi:10.1037/cbs0000299This objective of the present preliminary study was to evaluate the cognitive autonomy of patients suffering from brain lesions by an assessment of several executive and emotional processing supporting this ability. For this purpose, a test of management of everyday life problems (TGV in French) was designed with three sections: detection of problems, generation of solutions and estimation of the seriousness of problems. Control items (to rule out completion bias) and “unexpected”...

Perceived relevance of neighborhood features for encouraging preschoolers’ active play, parents’ active recreation, and parent–child coactivity.
To identify features parents perceived as being relevant for their child’s active play, their own active recreation, and their coactivity. Parents (n = 145, M age = 36.2 years) with preschoolers (M age = 3.9 years) living in Edmonton, Canada were recruited from each of Edmonton’s council wards. Parents reported demographic information and the importance of several neighborhood features (destinations, design, social, safety, esthetics) for their child’s active play, their own active recreation, and their coactivity via six-item Likert scales. After dichotomizing response options, a series of proportional tests account...

Predicting insufficient effort responding: The relation between negative thoughts, emotions, and online survey responses.
Canadian Journal of Behavioural Science / Revue canadienne des sciences du comportement, Vol 55(3), Jul 2023, 198-209; doi:10.1037/cbs0000308Online surveys are a popular source of data collection across organizations and academic settings. Insufficient effort responding (IER) to surveys occurs when participants fail to carefully read survey instructions or item content. Researchers commonly analyze IER as a methodological nuisance. The purpose of this article is to examine the extent to which negative emotions and thoughts predict proactive and reactive IER indicators. A sample of 625 participants completed an online surve...

French adaptation of the job crafting scale: The job demands-resources perspective.
This study tests the psychometric properties of the French version of the Job crafting scale (JCS-F) originally developed by Tims et al. (2012). To this end, the original scale was translated from English into French and then back-translated by two bilingual translators. Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to establish the instrument’s factor structure. Correlation and regression analyses were subsequently conducted to verify the nomological reliability and validity of the instrument. The results indicate that the JCS-F has a four-factor structure consistent with the conceptualization of Tims et al. (2012). Thes...

Exploring associations between intergroup contact, ideology, and support for new restrictive cannabis policies and penalties in Canada.
We examined the relationship between intergroup contact and support (or lack of support) for cannabis-related policies and penalties specific to immigrants. We examined this in Canada, where the recent legalization of cannabis led to new policies with varying degrees of public support. Among Canadian undergraduates, we found that more contact with immigrants was associated with lower support for relatively harsh cannabis-related penalties for immigrants. In particular, having higher-quality contact with immigrants was associated with greater opposition to such penalties. Additionally, those higher in right-wing ideology we...

Please stop rubbing your relationship in my Face(book): An investigation of online romantic social comparison.
Despite widespread use and inarguable utility, social networking sites such as Facebook have increasingly been associated with negative consequences such as low mood and low self-esteem among young adults. Given that social media facilitates the ease with which social comparisons can be drawn, research to date has implicated social comparison as one noteworthy process through which negative consequences are incurred. Despite this, there has thus far been scant research on online social comparison of a romantic nature. Specifically, there has been little investigation as to whether those who are romantically single are impa...

What is creepiness? The underlying role of ambiguity.
“Creepiness” is a commonly reported but little understood or empirically studied phenomenon. The present research sought to extend seminal work conducted by McAndrew and Koehnke (2016) and Watt et al. (2017) by examining the role of the ambiguity of threat, and attendance to eyes (vs. other facial regions) in perceptions of creepiness. In Study 1 (N = 254; 79% female) participants completed measures of discomfort with ambiguity, intolerance of uncertainty, and fear of the unknown; then rated 30 facial images for creepiness, trustworthiness, and attractiveness. High discomfort with ambiguity (vs. intolerance of uncertai...
