Pepsinogen II and a no-pickled food diet are risk factors for female patients with anxiety: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed that in females aged ≤50 years, high levels of PGII and no pickled foods were associated with a higher risk of anxiety.PMID:38463601 | PMC:PMC10918131 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Efficacy comparison between acupuncture and other modalities in the treatment of rotator cuff diseases: meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSION: Based on the current clinical data, meta-analysis showed that acupuncture alone or combined with physical therapy is efficacious for short- and medium-term (< 3 months) pain relief and functional improvements. However, compared to other interventions, the efficacy of the long-term (3 to 12 months) period did not significantly differ. After treatment, these modalities displayed advantages such as improved shoulder joint abduction, external rotation, and forward flexion movements. However, no significant difference was noted in internal rotation movement. Thus, future studies might further investigate whether ...

Association between immune-related hub genes < em > CD36, CXCL13, FGFR4, GABBR1, LAMP3, MMP12 < /em > , and < em > PPM1H < /em > and colorectal cancer prognosis
In conclusion, our findings provide evidence that seven immune-related hub genes can be considered as gene signatures to predict CRC prognosis and to differentiate CRC patient benefit, ultimately serving as a guide for individualized immunotherapy.PMID:38322560 | PMC:PMC10839376 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

LncRNA AL645608.3 mediates malignant progression of acute myeloid leukemia
CONCLUSION: AL645608.3 is expressed in different AML cell lines, and mediates the expression of CBL, IRF6, IFNB1, and MMP-9. These findings might deepen our comprehension of the molecular mechanisms underlying AML.PMID:38322561 | PMC:PMC10839383 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Comprehensive analysis of clinicopathological profiles in adenosquamous carcinoma of the lung
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, we describe an overview of ASC in the Chinese population, and upon stratifying into predominant pathological subgroups, we observed a higher frequency of driver gene mutations in AC-predominant ASC. We found that the AC component in ASC has a higher propensity for lymph node metastasis. These findings may suggest the predominant role of the AC component within the context of ASC.PMID:38322563 | PMC:PMC10839401 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Genotype analysis of 55,281 cases of thalassemia in northern Guangxi
CONCLUSION: The population in northern Guangxi exhibited rich ethnic diversity, with high allelic carrying rates among the Zhuang, Yao and Dong ethnic groups. Thalassemia gene mutations are diverse, encompassing a variety of gene types, with α thalassemia predominating, notably the --SEA/αα gene type. The prevalence of intermedia or severe types of thalassemia is not low, but there are still some carriers of thalassemia in people who are initially tested negative.PMID:38322564 | PMC:PMC10839378 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Relationship between anion gap and in-hospital mortality in intensive care patients with liver failure: a retrospective propensity score matching analysis
CONCLUSIONS: AG is associated with in-hospital mortality in intensive care patients with liver failure and demonstrates a moderate predictive value, which is comparable to the predictive power of the MELD score. AG may serve as an indirect marker of in-hospital mortality of patients with liver failure by reflecting the degree of metabolic acidosis.PMID:38322565 | PMC:PMC10839379 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)
