Effect of ultrasound-guided stellate ganglion block on lung protection for patients undergoing one-lung ventilation
CONCLUSION: Ultrasound-guided SGB has lung-protective effects on patients undergoing OLV, which significantly improves patients' OI, reduces intrapulmonary shunts, declines ventilator-induced lung damage, and inhibits inflammatory response as well as oxidative stress (China Clinical Trial Registry, registration number ChiCTR2000033385, https://www.chictr.org.cn).PMID:38586109 | PMC:PMC10994812 | DOI:10.62347/UFZF5671 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Efficacy of the combination of BRII-196/BRII-198 in the treatment of COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough infections
CONCLUSIONS: The initial levels of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody and lymphocytes in fully vaccinated patients with breakthrough infections are inversely correlated with the severity of the disease. Early treatment with BRII-196/BRII-198 can shorten NA negative conversion time in severe COVID-19 patients and increase in vivo neutralizing antibody levels post-conversion, providing lasting protection. However, BRII-196/BRII-198 does not influence lymphocyte count recovery in patients with either ordinary and/or severe COVID-19.PMID:38586111 | PMC:PMC10994788 | DOI:10.62347/NDGV1857 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Obesity attenuates the beneficial effect of an intrauterine infusion of autologous platelet-rich plasma during in vitro fertilization
CONCLUSION: PRP improved embryo implantation and clinical pregnancy rates; however, these beneficial effects were attenuated by obesity. PRP presumptively promoted a change in the uterine environment to mimic the normal findings associated with normal-weight women.PMID:38586113 | PMC:PMC10994790 | DOI:10.62347/RDXA5841 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Effects of Shixiao Huoxue Decoction on pain, tumor necrosis factor- α, and interleukin-8 in patients with adenomyosis
CONCLUSION: Xiaoxiao Huoxue Decoction demonstrated a better treatment efficacy in patients with adenomyosis through improving dysmenorrhea and Traditional Chinese Medicine symptoms, as well as reducing the levels of body inflammatory factors, non-menstrual pelvic pain, and dyspareunia, thus contributing to early recovery of patients. Therefore, Xiaoxiao Huoxue Decoction is worthy of promotion in clinical treatment of adenomyosis.PMID:38463587 | PMC:PMC10918143 | DOI:10.62347/VQVR4400 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Dysregulation of kidney proteases in the pathogenesis of hypertension following unilateral nephrectomy in juvenile mice
CONCLUSION: UNX results in the development of persistent and progressive hypertension. Down-regulation of KLK1 and up-regulation of various cathepsins may contribute to the development of hypertension via multiple mechanisms including a decrease in nitric oxide (NO) production.PMID:38463588 | PMC:PMC10918144 | DOI:10.62347/HONT9617 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Complex phenotypic heterogeneity of combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma with a homogenous < em > TERT < /em > promoter mutation
Am J Transl Res. 2024 Feb 25;16(2):690-699. doi: 10.62347/CQJW7490. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTTo clarify the mechanism underlying the development and poor prognosis of combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CCA), we characterized liver cancer driver mutations and poor prognostic markers in both the HCC and intrahepatic CCA (iCCA) components of a cHCC-CCA tumor. The telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) promoter mutation C228T was quantified by digital polymerase chain reaction using DNA from multiple microdissected cancer components of a single cHCC-CCA nodule. The protein expression of cancer-related markers, i...

IL-1RA autoantibodies: insights into mechanisms and associated diseases
Am J Transl Res. 2024 Feb 15;16(2):374-386. doi: 10.62347/NTVU5728. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTThe association of neutralizing autoantibodies targeting interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) with multisystem inflammatory syndrome, IgG4-related disease, and vaccine-related myocarditis is increasingly recognized. The detection of IL-1RA autoantibodies can be notably affected by the techniques and methods employed. Two categories of assays are available: solid-phase immunoassays, which detect binding of IL-1RA autoantibodies, and functional IL-1 signaling reporter cell assays, which offer greater specificity by determining ...
