YY1 as a promoter regulating the circ_0001946/miR-671-5p/EGFR axis to promote chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer cells
CONCLUSION: Circ_0001946 absorbs miR-671-5p to target EGFR to promote the growth and malignant invasion of drug-resistant BC cells, thereby increasing the resistance to tamoxifen. This effect of circ_0001946 may be achieved by transcriptional activation of YY1.PMID:35559420 | PMC:PMC9091114 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Effects of silver foam combined with Dermlin wound healing dressing on inflammation and quality of life in patients with diabetic lower limb ulcers
CONCLUSION: The treatment of diabetic lower limb ulcers with silver foam combined with Dermlin dressing can effectively promote wound healing, reduce pain intensity, and improve quality of life in patients with diabetic lower limb ulcers. Such effects may be attributed to lower levels of inflammatory factor levels, regulation of oxidative stress, and improvement of angiogenesis.PMID:35559422 | PMC:PMC9091129 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Curable congestive heart failure in patients with primary aldosteronism: two cases reports
We report two male patients who were admitted because of severe cardiac systolic dysfunction induced by primary aldosteronism. Their cardiac function improved significantly after target therapy. Patient A was a 33 year old male with serum aldosterone concentration (PAC) 251.3 pg/ml, renin activity (PRA) 0.04 ng/ml/h, and aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) 627.5. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a tumor in the left adrenal gland, while no dominant secretion function was found in the left side after the adrenal veins sampling (lateralization index 0.99). Bilateral adrenal hyperplasia was diagnosed and spironolactone was presc...

Active Stat3 and Her-2 as combined survival predictors show superiority to TNM staging system for postoperative patients with gastric cancer
CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that area under the ROC curve (AUC) can be used to quantify SPP powers for biomarkers, making cross-comparisons possible among different survival predictors. This study has first established a multi-factor survival prediction model by which the p-Stat3+Her-2 combination has the best discriminative capability to differentiate low-risk patients from high-risk patients in terms of survival prognosis.PMID:35559376 | PMC:PMC9091078 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Cranio-maxillofacial post-operative face prediction by deep spatial multiband VGG-NET CNN
Am J Transl Res. 2022 Apr 15;14(4):2527-2539. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTCurrent plastic and reconstructive surgery computational techniques are not precise and take a long time to perform. Therefore, these limitations reduced the adoption of computational techniques. Although computer-aided surgical preparation systems may help to enhance clinical results, minimize operating time and costs, they are too complicated and require detailed manual information, which restricts their usage in doctor-patient communication and clinical decision-making. In order to obtain the optimal aesthetic and reconstruction treatment results, th...

LncRNA FER1L4 promotes differentiation and inhibits proliferation of NSCs via miR-874-3p/Ascl2
Am J Transl Res. 2022 Apr 15;14(4):2256-2266. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTNeural stem cells (NSCs) may offer beneficeial and promising adjuncts for treatment of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD) and spinal cord injuries. Previous studies showed that LncRNA FER1L4 plays crucial roles in many biological procedures such as invasion, metabolism, apoptosis, and stem cell differentiation. However, the role of FER1L4 in differentiation and growth of NSCs remains unknown. In the present research, we noted that FER1L4 is upregulated in NSCs induced with TNF╬▒. Ectopic expression of FER1L4...

Epidemiologic characteristics and differential management strategies of seven case series with COVID-19 outbreaks caused by asymptomatic carriers from June 2020 to May 2021 in China
Am J Transl Res. 2022 Apr 15;14(4):2244-2255. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTWith the COVID-19 epidemic quickly under control in China in the early stage of 2020, global cooperation/communications may pose great challenges to epidemic control and prevention in the country. Large-scale spread by asymptomatic carriers was a concern. We obtained data on new cluster outbreak regions with COVID-19 caused by asymptomatic carriers from June 2020 to May 2021 in China, and reported the epidemiological characteristics, the possible routes of viral transmission and infection, and different control strategies. These results show the importa...

Keap1-Nrf2/ARE signal pathway activated by butylphthalide in the treatment of ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: The butylphthalide can effectively improve the clinical efficacy of acute ischemic stroke, and promote patients' neurological function and activities of daily living. The mechanism may be that butylphthalide improves the CVR of patients, enhances the establishment of collateral compensatory vessels, and changes the expression of the Keap1-Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway, thereby exerting the neuroprotective effect. Clinically, butylphthalide may have good safety in adjuvant therapy of acute ischemic stroke.PMID:35559381 | PMC:PMC9091106 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Biodistribution of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in animal models and implied role of exosomes following systemic delivery of MSCs: a systematic review
Am J Transl Res. 2022 Apr 15;14(4):2147-2161. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTMesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are promising candidates to combat the growing rates of chronic degenerative diseases. These cells provide regeneration and/or differentiation into other cell types, and secrete various trophic factors that participate in migration, proliferation, and immunomodulation. However, the novelty of MSC research has noticeably declined as common barriers and unresolved challenges prevent further progress. A common issue is the low survivability and migration of systemically infused MSC towards targeted regions. Nevertheless, succes...
